This is the space inside the head, not a lot lol.
I went with regular 3mm red LEDs instead of SMD ones purely for light depth.

I would love to do something like this, but the tech is WAY above my pay grade!
Maybe start with something with a little more space, but the "interesting" part of Gary's setup is how he is driving the sweep and where is putting the driver and the batteries.
How are your soldering iron skills Whiterook?

LOL… never used a soldering iron! I’ll stick with staying out of the emergency room, hahaha.

Without soldering its going to be harder, there are ready made lighting kits but I know nothing about them. They might be a simpler approach?

Soldering is easy, I just took a bit of plastic card, drilled 3mm holes, glued them in with CA and soldered them up. Cost about a dollar, plus the Arduino but there are other options Arduino Nano's are about $5 tops if you get them direct.

Where in the world are you Gary? We would pay around $20.00NZD for a Nano down here in NZ.
When you get a spare moment could you share a photo of the torso of the Centurion please? I would like to get an idea of size, I am assuming the Nano is going in there? Also how are you planning on powering it?

Thanks

I'm in Te Awamutu mate, I don't buy them here, unless I've run out and need them. I buy off Aliexpress and Temu normally or Element14 if I need anything quick.
The Nano will go in the base, I'll probably add an extension to the base or put it in the chest which I've not started yet.

I will be down your way in a couple of weeks I think, I do a sales trip through there every 3 - 3 months.
I have just found some Nanos for $13.00 from a here on the shore, I also found something that looks like a USB wifi adaptor that plugs straight in, that could be useful.
I looked at the picture of that centurion and it looked like getting cable from the base up to the head could be difficult, so I will be interested in seeing yours as you progress.
