McLaren CanAm

Hi,
This is a photo upload experiment. Two recent completions of the Marsh Models 1/43 McLaren M8D in Led Zeppelin livery, and M8F as Denny Hulme’s factory car.
Marsh Models are very nice kits, and have been around for many years. Like most 1/43s they are made of resin (body shells) white metal (chassis plates, wings, roll bars, wheel hubs etc) and photo-etch (smaller details, fold-up interior tubs) as well as turned metal for wheel rims.
The Orange is SMS paints Marigold, whilst the dark blue on the Led Zep car is Mr Color, and most of the rest is decal.
With the level of Kiwi success in Motorsport in the 60s and 70s, it’s great to see plenty of representation in kit form of the cars of Bruce McLaren, Denny Hulme and Chris Amon (at least in 1/43 scale)

WOW! …those are fabulous! I couldn’t even tell you what my fav would be, but I think the McLaren is winning out!!! What do you use to get that great gloss?
I’m just about to try to figure out how to upload pictures… what was your winning strategy?

Thanks. My go-to clear is usually Mr Color GX112 Superclear Gloss. I dilute it til the consistency looks right with Mr Levelling Thinner…the ratio depends on how old the bottle of clear is, but around 50:50 to start with. I airbrush it at just under 20psi.
Picture upload was direct from “Photos” on my iPad. Anything that involves manipulation of file size is above my pay-grade🙄 so I’m glad it worked.

Beautiful work. I did one of these some years ago. Can’t even remember the kit although think it’s 1/16 scale. Remember having trouble trying to match colour as hadn’t started airbrushing then just used tamiya cans.
