I think twin, or more, linked displays would work well. It was discussed on another group I'm on when someone wanted to feature a four gun 25lber battery and their gun tractors but naturally there was not the space for all the elements on one baseboard when set at realistic tactical distances. I suggested putting each gun on a separate base that could be drawn together by have identical baseboard design and colour, common ground cover and vegetation (use the same materials in all), and where possible staging or figures that are interacting with each other between baseboards tying them all into a singe entity. Also consider displaying the separate bases on a single large piece of cloth or cardboard to reinforce they are associated.

Thanks for the input dcr. I am looking at doing this basically... both will be in the 'same area', but for realistic distances between them, it would be too large for me to display at home.

I am also making it this way, as one of my best mates loves the T34, and he actually gave me the Panzer IV kit. So I am going to be making, and giving him the T-34 once I have finished, and taken photos.

I might also be putting something in the middle of them, like a little bush flurry or something along those lines... something to help link them together... Maybe something like a fence line etc... That will come when I come to doing the bases :)

I've had a couple of ideas, both involving aircraft. I'm absolutely sure that this pic has inspired some dioramas:

And hey, don't Airfix have a new 1/72 Victor out soon?

The other idea is a secret. B)

Some of the builds that have already started are look really awesome.

One idea I have wanted to do for a while is a F1 car museum, might have to join in and make it happen... and this time actually finish lol

Question, does the dio have to contain figures or is multiple models in a scene fine?

I think multiple models and no figures is perfectly fine.

Lots of good diorama building going on out there. How about you folks still in the planning stage?

Oh don't get me started... If I could stop thinking of diorama ideas I'd triple my modelling output.
I'll get my Old Bus done, then see what idea is swimming round in my head. :)

I see from one of your previous posts your plans centred around aircraft... can we expect some aircraft wrecks at the railway scrapyard. :P

That reminds me. Has everyone seen this Rukuhia Hudson? I think it's really neat.

An airliner graveyard would fit the desert theme. Where can I get some 1/87 747s? :side:

I still have an aircraft diorama planned. I'll get into it once I burn through my rail road enthusiasm.

Awesome diorama tutorial here. Fast forward to the second bit for lots of interesting techniques for scenery, ground cover etc. It's in German but you get the idea from the pictures.

Well I finished one half of my Dio - and I think I'm going to leave it at that. I have had almost no time to build of late with other things getting in the way... so yeah, just the T-34 tank :)

I have not started but have been slowly buying some PE parts to use on the F1 kits.

Not sure I will get it finished in time but I will be starting this weekend I hope and see how I go.

Might have to down scale the amount of models and size of dio.... see what happens :)

I really have to apologise for dropping the ball on this one. The last couple of months have been tough health and work wise. Anyway, there is still a bit of time to go before the end of the build, and there are some finished entries already. I'll try and finish mine shortly, plus I will provide a mystery prize for first place for this. :)

Hey hadley and grant, when does this group build finish?

Diorama Group Build (1 NEW)
Build a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.

From - 14th of November 2016
To - 1st November 2017
Or
The GB will be launched on 14th of November 2016, and run until the start of the 2017 Armistice in Cambridge. This is an ideal opportunity to present your diorama at the meeting.
Just abit confused,I know you are shifting house and Grant has not been on here in 2 weeks and real life gets in the way.

I thought it finished in time for Armistice
Yeah I know its been a year but any issues I've had its ended up sitting for extended periods, I havent got alot done this last year. Usually its a few kits a year but I've only finished 2 kits and that was my double build

Sorry Glen (and everyone else who got involved in this) I really dropped the ball. In the second half of this year I was in and out of hospital, had a huge amount off work on (including editing a book) and got married (which is obviously a good thing but also added the stress). Basically I bit off more than I and my health could handle. I'm currently in Europe but I'm back in a couple of weeks. I can clean up the mess then if people are happy with that?

Right, so I've had a look
Either I'm missing something or Glenn is the only one to have finished...
Some look like they are well on their way, some look near the end (Grant) but most are still a long way from being completed
