Hi all,
Having one of those - can't be bothered with details but want to build something - moments.
So this morning I dragged out some MDF and started hacking away.
Probably not an ideal way to build my first aircraft - vac-forming, scribing etc. etc. but then again I've never really been one to make life easy for myself  , and being too cheap to buy an eggplane (but then again anyone can buy and build those - I prefer one off's  ).
You might be able to name the aircraft once it has some wings and markings :S .

Heaps more filing, sanding, filling and repeat as necessary till it's ready for baking time.
Cheers for looking in on the looney modellers attempts.

I suppose I should have mentioned it's a Caricature Style (Seriously Deformed) in case anyone hadn't guessed :side: .
Looks a little different now - altered the canopy area to conform slightly more to the original  .
Haven't done clear styrene vac-forming in yonks so trying to remember the ABC's of it.

Looks a bit like the jets that do the fly-by at the beginning of the Piston Cup races in the Cars movie. They looked a bit Harrier (oops Av-8) -ish.

Cheers all,
Had one of those day's  , all chores were done and the day booked for some fun relaxing plastic manipulation.
First task - vac-form this thing. Did one side - all hunky dory, second side - vacuum cleaner decided it no longer wished to work. Not a problem use the house vacuum cleaner, nope won't work different sized nozzle  . Good excuse to go and play on the lathe and make a reducer - first time ever I managed to run a cutter into the chuck = broken tip on boring bar and no spares.
Change of plan - go and mess about with the Steam Car model and fill a couple of minor hiccups using my new Vallejo Putty :) - first squeeze and half the tube shot out the back and onto the floor (carpet) - not very well crimped tubes :pinch: .

Anywho, tomorrow came and with reducer finally made and carpet cleaned I sort of got the other side done. House vacuum cleaner only has half the suction of the (RIP) workshop vacuum so not a brilliant forming. Result = a lot more work to get the sides to line up (most probably have to use flitch plates on the inner surfaces).

So, how was your day  .
Proper progress at the future date

Cheers.
Have calmed down enough to evaluate the misalignment problem.
Conclusion - rebuild the form pattern minus air intakes and vac-form once the new workshop vacuum arrives :) = problems solved.

Unfortunately this project has hit the big recycling bin - just wasn't really panning out as I had hoped :( .
Never mind, a good chance to experiment and push the boundaries :) .
Might try again with a subject I'm a little more comfortable with ;) .
Cheers for popping by.

In the words of Edgar Allan Poe

"I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity"

It's probably easier for me to bin stuff as there has been minimal expenditure - a few $'s of sheet plastic maybe  .
