Sci-Fi & Fantasy Group Build
The main criteria for this build is to have fun!
(Build dates: Saturday 24 October 2015 - Saturday 15 October 2016)

Proudly brought to you by Kiwi Modeller in conjunction with Mighty Ape!

The Universe is vast beyond measure, and within it exists untold dimensions. Beyond these is “Te Kore” - The Nothingness. In between the reality of our existence and Te Kore “The Kiwi Modeller Sci-Fi and Fantasy Group Build”!
Parameters for this Group Build
Pretty much any subject is allowed, as long as it’s not real. Examples include Gunpla / Macross / Gundam, TV/movie models, Warhammer, Apocalypse, Steam Punk, Sci-Fi, Bio-Mechanical, Fantasy, Figurines (not based on real people). Out of box, aftermarket and scratch built all allowed. 3D printed items are also allowed but must be totally created by you, not edited from someone else’s work or had elements imported. No partially started kits or work allowed. Entrants must have been be KM members for at least 2 months. Normal vetting for any cynical entries as usual.

All entries must have a build log posted in the group build forum presenting regular progress. Judging will be by community vote and possibly guest judge (to be confirmed). Prize(s) are also to be confirmed. Entries are welcome from KM members outside of NZ and if you win a prize you just need to pay the international shipping. Voting will run for the week following the 15th October 2016, ending at midnight on the 22nd October. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote. An affordable donation to Kiwmodeller.com is always much appreciated from those participating.
Thanks, and Enjoy!

oOoOo I like that. I was thinking of making my AT-ST into a german one... but the Mrs said no, keep it Star Wars only... lol. But that is something I had in mind. Might have to go with something else..

Would a "Mad Max" car be included in this?

I'm with G1, need to start NOW :)
All those in favor of starting a mutiny and starting now please raise your hand
PJ - I've stopped looking for ideas, my tiny brain can only handle so much input and the quantity of ideas is just staggering, but I might have to start a quickie just to get some practice in (who said modellers have patience ?).

Firstly, get a 2nd AT-ST. Im planning on it.
2ndly, Mad Max car = yes. Ok it's based on a real car but it's fictional. ;)

I would if I could... but I think the mrs would be very un-impressed if I got another of the same kit...

But yeah, a Mad Max car could be fun, technically science-fiction in my eyes

My build will be a modified HG MS-06 Zaku II
I'm going to go for a very old, battle weary veteran that is being brought back from the dead for one last battle. Basically it will be rusted to hell, surrounded by scaffolding, part painted with some lighting thrown in here. I know it's 1/444 but I'm going to look at adding 1/72 figures scurrying around it, grinding, fixing and painting it, I want it to look more like a "drivable" Mech than just a big ass battle droid.
I know someone else has done something similar but it's why I originally bought the figure back in early 2014 but then someone beat me to it and I didn't want people to think I'd copied them but now I've got a good excuse I'm going to do it anyway :)
It will give me a chance to work on my extreme rusting, the plan is to do it as a rusting hulk that was once Olive Drab but is being repainted to look something like a giant Captain America (red, white and blue. Will use WWII US infantry to give it the true 50's style Sci-Fi look.

Can't wait, and I have to say that pic has to be one the best turned out HG kits I have ever seen. Those thunderbolt kits do seem to very cool.
Maybe I can buddy up with this

And the new paint set from Ammo www.migjimenez.com/en/new-releases/535-green-mechas-colors.html

That diorama sounds very interesting Gary - I'm loving the story line and the variety of textures / effects and techniques that could be involved.
Webby that kit looks cool too and those paints are super nice. The possibility of a "buddy up" sort of thing, complimenting each others builds is an interesting one. Or indeed a full on collaboration
(not necessarily meaning you guys but the idea in general). I've often thought it would be fun to do a build with say 4 participants each doing a different aspect of one build, posting it on to the next until complete..

Yeah I'd be quite interested in getting one too..

K2, this build will go through to October 2016 so hopefully heaps of time for ya! It is likely the start date will be able to be brought forward a bit. We are just waiting for a couple of other details to be confirmed and then be able to put a GB thread up! :)

They appear to be on Preorder in a number of shops - selling at around the $25.00 US mark  .
Amazon is stating a Jan 2016 release, however the Moebius site doesn't give any indication to the release date  .

We have them on order but Moebus release dates are very hit & miss, for instance the BSG Colonial One arrived about a year after expected.
