× For an idea of what is eligible here is a good list, which will provide plenty of opportunities for a subject: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_operations
Note: even though some of those operations start before and/or finish after the above period, GB subject must have been deployed after start of August 1990 to be eligible, and it must be a combat zone where actual combat occurred, even if the subject did not actively participate i.e. patrol, recon, sentry, etc. If in doubt, check with the admins.

Looking for those keen to participate in our next group build.

Here is the deal:

Anything that has deployed to an active combat zone since (and including) Desert Shield/Operation Granby/ Operation Daguet/etc. No part started kits, must be a new build.

Group build proposed dates: 1 Jan 2019 - 31 October 2019 (10 months and done for next AIC?).

That will cover most areas of the globe - here is a good list which could provide plenty of opportunities for a subject
Wikipedia List of Military Operations

Note: even though some of those operations start before and finish after the above period, GB subject must have been deployed since start of Desert Shield in 1991 to be eligible, and it must be a combat zone where actual combat occurred, even if the subject did not actively participate i.e. patrol, recon, sentry, etc.

Would be a good excuse to build my mates Bosnia Chally II
Any chance we can take it back 10 years so it can include "the trip down South", aka the Falklands?

My response would be “no”. Next someone else will say “what about Vietnam?”, then someone will say “anything since WW2?”.

Need to draw the line somewhere and the initial response was GW1, GW2.

I’m sure you’ll find something suitable guv.

Plenty of other “peace keeping” actions UK took toys to the sand pits of the world for?

Ok, so we just need one more participant to pull the trigger, but would be good to see more than the minimum participate. I'd be keen to make this the main GB for forum next year.

Hey Craig,

Did you get an assistant for this build?
Happy to help if you want me to.

But what am I to build?
Got a few possibilities,
Revell 1/48 Tornado GR4
Revell 1/48 Raphale B
Meng 1/35 Shilka

The Shilka I could do from the box but either of the jets would need decals as for the theatre, Tornado ones a probably available but the Raphale is a real long shot. There were was a generic Syhart Raphale sheet but it is long out of stock so far as I can tell.

Marcus

I started building models, then I was collecting more than I built. Now I'm more of an archivist.

Cheers Marcus - offer accepted.

I've been pondering my options too. So far I'm considering:
  • Tiger Models or Flyhawk 1/72 M1A2
  • Hasegawa 1/72 F-35A IDF/AF
  • Hasegawa 1/48 AV-8B (no surprises there)
  • Tamiya 1/48 F-16C (or D conversion) IDF/AF
  • Hasegawa or Italeri 1/72 A-10A Desert Storm

How would you do a Tamiya F-16D?
Perform the chop on a Hasegawa or go with a Wingman conversion?

Excellent - hopefully we can get some more. Might see if I can come up with something for a prize - no promises, but I’ll see what I can do.

As for Tamiya F-16D, the Hasegawa “conversion set” is a little more work, but a damn sight cheaper than the Wingman one. Just not sure 10 months would be long enough for that

I'm thinking I will either build my Tamiya 1/32 F-16 or Trumpeter 1/32 A-7E Corsair.

I am itching to start. Might force myself to wait up till the new year to open the bags. Cut the main fuselage parts free and make jet noises.
