After a couple of hours hanging off the airbrush, the lightened light gull grey has been applied as part of the fading process.

Update In Stash:
Lots of 1/35 Armor mainly WWII German and a few Modern British/American pieces, 1/32 Aircraft and 1/48 Aircraft. Aircraft chosen to replicate RNZAF and RAAF types through the years. Some RAF & USAF types exist also.

Thanks guys. Ian, I'm using an Iwata HP-CP. Next step will be a coat of Future and then I'm going to try the salt masking technique and mist on the original mix for light gull grey. Had been planning of adding some extra weathering as it is now before overspraying, but have decided not to.

Thanks guys. Overnight I've had a change of heart re the salt masking. I think for the extra work, the end result isn't going to be a hell of a lot different to how it's looking now. Will airbrush the walkways and black areas and make some masks for the insignia. Thinking oil dot technique might be a go.

Masked and sprayed the black around the cockpit and the panels on the wing leading edges. Will fade these slightly. Also sprayed the nose cone which I will leave unfaded.

Will do the walkways next. Going to add a rough texture to those areas.

After applying some fading to the black around the cockpit that I sprayed the other night, I removed the masking and then masked up the anti-slip walk way areas and sprayed them with rubber black. Not that they have a rubber coating, but because I thought it would make a nice contrast to the other black areas. Will add some fading to these in the next session.

Just finished airbrushing on four different shades of rubber black lightened with neutral grey in a random pattern. Pretty happy with the result. Happy with the contrast between these walkways and the cockpit surroundings.

Thanks guys. You're too kind!

Flat out at work doing lots of stuff for Christmas and looking after a friend as she recuperates after returning from her trip to Europe early to end up in Auckland Hospital for a week with meningitis! Since the last update, all I have managed to do is brush a coat of Future over the fuselage.

Can't wait to cut the masks and spray the markings. Going to be a mission, especially the tail.

Just went over the undersides with another couple of coats of insignia white. It's given it a nice weathered look which I'm happy with.

I know you've done a great job on the cockpit, but for others, here are some reference photos of an RAF Phantom from the museum at Hendon.
Thought someone might find them useful!
Cheers
Tania

Unweathered vs weathered. Will probably mist a bit more white over the weathered tank to tone it down a little.
