I've been given the green light from the nice guys at Niche and they are willing to sponsor the Egg Race, obviously for those of you not in the land of eternal sunshine and greenery you can still enter but you will have to obtain your kits locally.
We (Kiwi Modeller) are able to supply kits at the greatly reduced price of $16 plus shipping (normaly RRP is around $26).
If you provide your own kit it must be from the current range i.e. the latest packaging.
Niche are kindly providing a 1/48 Prop kit as a prize and we'll try to rummage something else up to throw in to the pot.
No entry fees required
Craig will be at Model X in Auckland and will be able to distribute on our behalf.
If you want to buy a kit through us please send $22 (includes $6 shipping)

Dang!!! PTO will take up my build time. One of these would have had me Out Of MY Zone and doin' sumfin diffrunt.
A BIG THUMBS UP to Craig and the team at Niche Models.

I'll be in for a later one. Or could a fella get a couple of these and not go in the Build?

Give the people that want to enter a couple of weeks to "get their orders in" then as Craig says first come first served just put your pennies in to the account above and we'll take it from there. I see these as a weekend build mate, can't see why you can't fit one in, given the speed at which you work.

Ha, I'm a snails pacer mate. But might be nice as a change of pace hey hey. :woohoo:
I'll wait to see how many give this a go, and go from there.
Besides - The PTO GB includes a whole lotta stuff i'm not overly familiar with. Fiddly PE and only second time using Resin AM which, in this case, is a significant part of the build. Will see how it all pans out. Kinda keen to give an Eggsotential plane a go tho . . .

Cheers

Note that I will only be at Model-X on Sunday from 1pm-ish, if anyone is paid up and wanting to collect. I will need to know in advance which eggplanes to take for those wanting pick up, otherwise the orders will all be sent down to Gary to send out, and you'll have to pay for postage too. If anyone is travelling up from Hamilton area, happy to put together a combined order for said person to take back down.

I will also take note of those who have paid and set aside kits in order paid and requested, so sooner you get in, the more likely you are to get what you are after.

I will not be joining this one for obvious reasons, but an egg plane start to finish can be done in a week including paint and decals, so two months is easy, even with PTO GB!

I'd actually suggest that we make it part of the entry process to pay your money to the KM account, not to me, but I am still happy to drop the model(s) of at Model-X for those who have paid. That way Gary can track who has paid/entered, and we keep all of the money together. Just remember if you plan to pick up to pay $6 less as you save on the postage.

As much as I'd love to jump in on this one, I'll have to sit it out. With bubs here now, money is too tight, even for $16 or $22. Props though to Craig and Niche for supplying kits and prize(s), and of course G1 for teeing it all up. Good luck to all and I can't wait to see some eggs soon...

Yeah, but seeing as Niche are putting up a prize it's not very fair on them if there's just a couple of entrants, they make money selling the items and if no one buys them from me or NZ shops they are out of pocket. I'm just trying to organise a fun event that helps everyone and is something different.
So that's me, John and you, lets give it to the end of next week to see who comes up with what, and take it from there ;)

If the contest isn't going ahead, and if Craig can still supply the Eggplane I'm still pretty keen to build one - I'd understand if he can't as I suppose they were at that price as a promo thing.
I might build it as an Easter project

Are you able to supply these egg planes?
Been tempted by eBay but rather support NZ
Plus seen some new egg planes that have been released recently, think one was an osprey

Note: I mean the helicopters not the planes lol
