The subject of this group build is to take a model off your shelf that's been sitting there unfinished and finish it.
To start post photos of your model(s) in it's current state with a quick blurb of what version you were building and why it ended up abandoned. Then blog and post photos of you finishing it!
Extra kudos the older it is.

RED's 1/48 Tamiya A6M2 Zero - Completed
1 year 3 months ago #1
here we go, this particular specimen dates back to early this year, as you can see from the photos a fair bit was completed before being abandoned due to the dreaded canopy that needed masking ..... and still does
both of these need finishing - I have chosen the zero because hopefully I can get it done in the next 2-3 weeks
As it currently sits
looking at doing the bottom one - 261st Air Group (Tiger Corps) Kagoshima Base (circa Feb 1944)
wish me luck, and once this is out of the way I will move onto the SuperBug
cheers Tiger, I finally ordered the mask this morning (did try doing it myself like I have on my previous zero but for some reason it didn't take) so will get the rest of the body sorted and maybe the underside coloured in this weekend
well I broke out the airbrush for a bit of a spray today - pre-shade done, underside done, yellow identification strip on the wing leading edge done (just need to mask it now), legs and covers also done, still waiting on the mask to show up though before tackling the top side. I will also try masking and spraying the white and yellow stripes towards the tail of the plane once all the other colours are on (instead of using the decals)
masks turned up a few days ago, but I am struggling to get anything done at the moment - so this arvo once I came home I cracked on masked up then painted (sorry for the crappy photos)
I'll let this harden over night before more masking and painting tomorrow (maybe)
on to the final stretch now with this one .... decals applied, prop "indicators" (yellow bits) masked and painted, all the little detail painting done (expect nav lights - I'll mask these tomorrow and paint once the decals have dried and a coat of clear is on) then its final assembly (hopefully completed for our final meeting for the year on Tuesday)
