Sci-Fi & Fantasy Group Build
The main criteria for this build is to have fun!
(Build dates: Saturday 24 October 2015 - Saturday 15 October 2016)

Proudly brought to you by Kiwi Modeller in conjunction with Mighty Ape!

The Universe is vast beyond measure, and within it exists untold dimensions. Beyond these is “Te Kore” - The Nothingness. In between the reality of our existence and Te Kore “The Kiwi Modeller Sci-Fi and Fantasy Group Build”!
Parameters for this Group Build
Pretty much any subject is allowed, as long as it’s not real. Examples include Gunpla / Macross / Gundam, TV/movie models, Warhammer, Apocalypse, Steam Punk, Sci-Fi, Bio-Mechanical, Fantasy, Figurines (not based on real people). Out of box, aftermarket and scratch built all allowed. 3D printed items are also allowed but must be totally created by you, not edited from someone else’s work or had elements imported. No partially started kits or work allowed. Entrants must have been be KM members for at least 2 months. Normal vetting for any cynical entries as usual.

All entries must have a build log posted in the group build forum presenting regular progress. Judging will be by community vote and possibly guest judge (to be confirmed). Prize(s) are also to be confirmed. Entries are welcome from KM members outside of NZ and if you win a prize you just need to pay the international shipping. Voting will run for the week following the 15th October 2016, ending at midnight on the 22nd October. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote. An affordable donation to Kiwmodeller.com is always much appreciated from those participating.
Thanks, and Enjoy!

Sci-Fi & Fantasy GB: Impreza Death Racer was created by Michaels Models
This soon to be Impreza Death Racer was inspired by images from the movie Death Race. I am not sure how it has happened but I have not see the movie but will do very soon.
The Impreza wasn't my first pick but really think it suits the build better then the 50's Ford ute I was going to use.
It will require less scratch building then the ute would have needed which could help me out time wise with tying to do so many of the GBs. But I will be adding heaps of bits to the body to transform it into a killing machine plus I would like to have a go at lighting up the headlights, taillights etc. The lighting idea is all dependent on fitting it all in the limited space available under the bonnet and in the boot area.

Now I need to get my modelling spaces finished and get building.

Forgot to say this kit used to be owned by Webby_NZ, it was kindly donated for Manawatu Scale Model Club's auction fundraiser night.

Colour me intrigued, this should be interesting.
Let me know if you need and small lighting/fibre optics as I have a decent stash of stuff that does not get enough use.

Looking for cheap ideas for adding lights to this death racer. My wife and kids found some Xmas stuff that could help. The necklaces has a very small battery/switch box which could help heaps since the kits has very little hidden space. Down side is the button battery is not cheap to replace. The short line of lights takes normal AA battery's but might take up to much space.
Still going to check out some stuff at a electrical shop just to make sure I am not missing something better lol

Check out $2 shops as they often have the button cells really cheap.
I know for a fact the one in the Plaza has them there.

Ebay or Aliexpress is another source for cheap button type batteries

Nice find.

Wow that is some price and it still needs LED's and wiring... but very cool.
