2018 is the Centenary of the formation of the Royal Air Force on the 1st of April, 1918. The build will run until February 1st 2019 and is open to any scale and any subject that represented the RAF, including aircraft, ground vehicles and equipment, or RAF personnel.
Ideally the model must be built in its entirety within the specified build dates and the build, but kits that have been part started can be entered at the discretion of the group build leader.
The build should be accompanied by a thread in the group build forum documenting regular progress. Post shots of your sprues or the current state of the build at the beginning of your thread.
By the end of the GB (and no later than 24 hours after the completion date) participants should post five pictures of the completed build in the GB completed builds thread.
There is no entry fee for the GB, but a donation for the upkeep of Kiwimodeller is always welcome.
Entrants who complete a build, post their completed pictures and reside in New Zealand will enter a draw to win a prize (Prize to be advised; one draw entry per person; entrant must reside in New Zealand to qualify for entrance in to the prize draw).

Grant, I have an eligibility question for you. Would I be ok to enter the Sea King I made a start on nearly three years ago? See here www.kiwimodeller.com/index.php/forum/hel...-48-seaking-har-mk-3

What you see is as far as I got because I decided to pull out of the helicopter GB early because of a possible conflict of interest, given I sponsored this GB. Unfortunately, I never found the time or motivation to get back to the kit after the Helo GB finished. The RAF 100 GB should provide the motivation for me to pick up the pieces of this one again.

Cheers
Steve

Believe me when I say, that is one of the next options I am considering. Given that I have four Shackletons in the stash I could potentially do a one man group build on the type some day. The rules of the RAF 100 GB allow only one entry per person so in this instance I'd rather do something with my box of yellow bits.:P

Hi Steve, that looks absolutely fine as an entry.

I should also clarify that I meant only one entry person to the prize draw, but if anyone wants to to multiple builds then go ahead.

Thanks for clarifying Grant.

So we can build as many RAF types as we can manage for the Group Build but at the end of the day only one entry per person is allowed when it comes time to enter the prize draw with images (of your best model, if more than one).

I might have to hunt out a smaller quick build kit as well in that case so I at least have one kit that makes it across the line in Feb next year.

Cheers
Steve

It's a pity the RAF didn't fly any German tanks otherwise I'd actually be in this. I could build the Lanc, but I must push on in three other directions.

German tanks were targets for the RAF, particularly rocket-carrying Typhoons after D-Day. :)

Would it need to be an RAF type?
Were do you stand on foreign service aircraft impressed into service?
I have a Fly Bf-108. It has a dozen schemes and 3 are British.

I started building models, then I was collecting more than I built. Now I'm more of an archivist.

I didn't know this, but the prewar machines were even given the British designation Aldon so are completely fine for the build. :)

Not sure what I'll build, but I've got a HUGE choice on my shelves to pick from. Probably something post war... and 'unexpected' !! ;)

And here is the prize for the group build. Two RAF options in the box so hopefully it interests participants. This will be awarded, via a random draw, to one of the completed entries. :)
