Operation Desert Storm 25th Anniversary

January 17th 2016 will mark 25 years since the US-led Coalition began airstrikes in a prelude to boots on the ground to force the withdrawal of Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi forces from Kuwait. To mark the 25th Anniversary, we will be commencing a Kiwimodeller Group Build, beginning January 17th 2016, and finishing on the 15th of July 2016.
The build is open to any scale and any subject that played a role in Operation Desert Storm. This includes Iraqi forces. The model must be built in its entirety within the specified build dates and the build should be accompanied by a thread in the group build forum documenting regular progress. Post shots of your sprues at the beginning of your thread.
By the end of the GB (and no later than 24 hours after the completion date) participants should post five pictures of the completed build in the GB completed builds thread. There is no entry fee for the GB, but a donation for the upkeep of Kiwimodeller is welcome The winner of the group build will be decided by popular vote.
Voting will run for the week following the 15th of July, ending Midday the 22nd of July. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote.

Very smooth work so far. What is wrong with the wheels? I mean, apart from the fact that they're not tracks?....

Thanks guys B)

I'm just not a fan of vinyl wheels Tony. I've had too many sets split on me. I'd rather get AM resin ones if the kit offers only vinyl

Colour coat on today. Will need to do the interior detail painting and add decals. Will probably do a dusting of pigments, a little stowage, put the windows in and seal the halves together.

Ah yes, and their tracks are notorious for the same splitting.

Interior detail painting is all done on this too. Just need to add decals, a clearcoat, some weathering, then the glazing. After that I can seal the halves together and get painting on the outside

Update on this too. I'm on a roll :woohoo:

Decals on the interior. Just need to sort stowage. Going to be pretty basic, couple of water cans, 50 cal, tripod, and some ammo boxes. I wasn't going to, but I've decided to order a set of Live Resin M548 ammo boxes. I also found a M16A1 with M203 40mm that I'll sit in the cab too

Need to push on with this one, not too long until the GB ends

Funding issues are holding this one up. The pillock that brought my steering wheel hasn't fronted with the cash  Waiting for TM to give back my fees so I can relist

Mini update.

So I got my fees back from TM for the steering wheel. He never paid, and stopped contact. Checked his TM profile/feedback, and the cheeky prick had committed to buying a PS3 at the same time as he was supposed to be paying me. Relisted, and sold less than 3 days later. The guy picked it up and paid cash last night :woohoo:

So have ordered the Tamiya modern accessories set which has several of the Mk. 548 ammo cans for the 40mm grenades from BNA, which will hopefully be here by the end of the week B)

I sold off my Logitech G25 steering wheel.

PS3 has shit itself, so am saving to get a PS4 instead, and will most likely get a G29 wheel for when the next instalment of Gran Turismo is released :woohoo:

It's a shame you have to buy the shifter separately for the G-29. I was looking at it as well, but saw that and decided against it. Happy with my G-27 for the moment.

I got to the stage where I wasn't using the 6 speed shifter, just the paddle change  plus everyone kicks the part the sticks out from my seat setup that the shifter mounts to

What a pain, but least if it works for you :) On the game I race on the PC (Assetto Corsa), it changes the control of the gears depending on what car you're driving. If it's a manual gear box with clutch, it will use that, if it's a supercar with paddles, it uses that. It's just weird having the shifter on the opposite side of the in game video lol. I prefer to have it on the side I would normally drive with it.

My mate built the frame for me. I got a Jamex seat for $200 B) In certain Gran Turismo events you cant use the H pattern shifter, only the sequential shifter or paddle change

Been tempted to sell it and buy one that folds up a lot smaller. It isn't small by half! The kids treat it like a jungle gym :pinch:

I had an obutto seat with my g-27 and a Thrustmaster Warthog. Was a mint setup but yeah, too big. I need to save up for a PS4 for when Gran Turismo comes out.

Update time :woohoo:

40mm ammo cans assembled, primed and painted. I used Tamiya Rattle can Olive Drab. Also sprayed some rattle can clear on ready for the decals.

Hopefully can get the interior sorted ready to seal up the body

Trying not to panic

Finish date is getting closer. Made some progress over the last few days. Mojo has been interrupted by having a faulty hot water cylinder :S

I'm almost ready to seal the halves together. I just need to tweak the pigments a little in the interior then apply some fixer. I've glued all the glazing in place using PVA
