The kit box:

The contents as of this morning:

Where kit progress is currently at (I'd say this is less than 20% - mods feel free to let me know if you think otherwise). Windows in (the masked one is resin so need to protect it while fitting), and some of the Eduard interior fitted also. White metal insert for lower fuselage comes in the Hasegawa kit:

That's fine, it's a long way from completion so all good. This is a friendly competition and we all need incentives to complete part-started kits.

Have to decide if I'll do the main rotor folded or unfolded - kit gives both options. While I like the look of unfolded, folded does take up a lot less room on the display cabinet.

Have been making some progress so time for an update.

Cockpit and cabin assembly complete and ready for paint. Mostly just Eduard interior parts with some wire for seat framing.

Starting to get base colours on, but no real detail painting yet. The cabin ceiling (or lack of) in the Hasegawa SeaKing has always bothered me, with the engines being visible from the cabin. It's even worse if building the port crew door and stairs open, so I have added a sheet styrene roof. Nothing fancy, but enough to prevent a see through cabin. The splatters are from some trials I was doing with streaking effects for something else, but this will be painted the same grey as the rest of the interior.

The cabin does not fit in quite the correct position in side the fuselage halves. You will notice some areas where there is bare plastic showing - this is where I have removed ribs to allow the cabin to sit further forward into the fuselage for a better fit and placement.

Another view of the base coated interior ready for detail painting and some weathering.

Nice work Craig. Love the little bit of metal on the cyclic.
