The subject of this group build is the diorama, broadly defined. It is open to any scale, genre, medium, or subject matter: sci-fi, military, non-military, aircraft, ships, tanks, animals, historic scenes... whatever takes your fancy!
So my rail diorama somehow turned into a whole layout. This is my new diorama entry. I've been planning this one for a while but I began it on the weekend. Progress so far is the early stages of a Trumpeter 1/32 Mig-21. I'm going to leave the full nature of this diorama a little mysterious so that you can imagine where it might end up.
(Excuse the crappy phone pics.) The kit is quite nice so far. First up was mixing a cockpit colour. Bugger all of the cockpit will be seen because there will be a pilot in there.

It goes together fine. There are gaps here and there especially the underside of the wing fuselage join and the join of the rear half of the fuselage to the forward half. Most of the problems come from the removable rear end I think. The cockpit fits nicely and the front metal landing gear is attached with screws which makes it very strong. The MiG-21 is a very small aircraft compared to the rest of the collection I have. About the same size as the A-4.
Currently hacking away at:
1/24 Italeri Western Star FINISHED
1/1 Micro Ace M7 Bayonet (round two)
1/24 Panel shop Dio
GW Space marine land speeder
1/72 Airfix RAF rescue launch (All at sea group build)

More progress. The MiG -21 is a fairly quick build out of the box. I painted and masked the exhaust and then blocked out all the main colours. This will all be freehand I think. Oh, looks like it might be the Iraqi scheme!
Made a start on the Herald. Pretty crappy as expected, but I think this is only the second car kit I've ever built. Would be a fun kit for a kid to put together.
