So my rail diorama somehow turned into a whole layout. This is my new diorama entry. I've been planning this one for a while but I began it on the weekend. Progress so far is the early stages of a Trumpeter 1/32 Mig-21. I'm going to leave the full nature of this diorama a little mysterious so that you can imagine where it might end up.

(Excuse the crappy phone pics.) The kit is quite nice so far. First up was mixing a cockpit colour. Bugger all of the cockpit will be seen because there will be a pilot in there.

Much more to come. :)

Hardy har har.... :P (everyone around here is a fricken comedian).

I was going to say for a custom mix it's pretty much bang on for a worn cockpit. Another mix that matches eduard prepainted PE is Gunze Aqueous H25 sky blue and h46 emerald green in a 50/50 mix.

Loving it Grant! Can't wait to see this done. Has the kit easy to put together? I have this one in the stash.

It goes together fine. There are gaps here and there especially the underside of the wing fuselage join and the join of the rear half of the fuselage to the forward half. Most of the problems come from the removable rear end I think. The cockpit fits nicely and the front metal landing gear is attached with screws which makes it very strong. The MiG-21 is a very small aircraft compared to the rest of the collection I have. About the same size as the A-4.

A couple pics of the pit. This is out of the box and a quick job. The detail is a bit soft as you can see, but the dials look quite nice.

Pit still looks very good though! You don't really need much more detail than that.

Base is also looking good

Started painting the MiG this afternoon. I also received this in the mail. Appropriate cars are a bit rare for what I needed, but this fits the bill.

The final bit of the puzzle is some figures. The Trumpeter kit actually includes several figures that should do the job though they are not the best quality.

More progress. The MiG -21 is a fairly quick build out of the box. I painted and masked the exhaust and then blocked out all the main colours. This will all be freehand I think. Oh, looks like it might be the Iraqi scheme!

Made a start on the Herald. Pretty crappy as expected, but I think this is only the second car kit I've ever built. Would be a fun kit for a kid to put together.

More to come!
