I've lost all enthusiasm for my Tiger I dio for the GB, I'm on somewhat of a limited budget with SWMBO at home on maternity leave, and the costs for the Tiger I Dio were starting to spiral out of control. I'll revisit it one day, when funds allow me to purchase all the remaining components.

I had a hunt through my stash to find something that fits the D-Day theme, and I have decided to build an Early Production Sturmgeschutz IV from 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division Götz von Berlichingen. According to research this division was the exclusive user of StuG IVs in Normandy.

I'll be using this kit

I'll also be using an undecided number of these Fallschirmjager figures. I'll be making them to represent 6. Fallschirmjägerregiment

Will be making a start on it over the weekend. Sprue shots and progress pics coming soon

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

Replied by 1/35th Battalion on topic Andrew's D-Day GB - Sturmgeschutz IV Early Production
Glad to see you back in this action :woohoo:
Any Tiger bits you might like to share?
What tracks had you thought to use for your T1E?

D1

On the Bench:
Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (1993 DTM) - "Built to Race" GB
Revell 1/24 '77 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 - getting the "Mad-Maxed" treatment - moving to the "Diorama" GB

Don't let someone dim your light simply because it's shinning in their eyes !

Sometimes the best intentions never work out

I made a start using the late production version, only to find that it doesn't have the correct drivers hatch for the time. I think I was being a bit hopefull that DML would include both  I've also noticed that the hull is a mid Ausf J production, so no good for Normandy. Looks like that whole kit will be a donor now

Luckily Hobbyeasy has the DML StuG IV Early on special, so for an early Birthday present to myself, I'll be ordering one on the weekend. I'm also hoping to pick up a set of DML Fallschirmjager figures to go with it.

Sorry Dave, No bits going lol I've got myself a set of Friuls for the Tiger :woohoo:

Thanks Tony :)

Small update. One side fender 95% complete. I just need to add some mounts for the spare road wheel holder, but I'll do that once I've mated the upper and lower hulls.

I'm going for minimal interior on this as all hatches will be closed. Have started to build the gun assembly.

Hope to get more done Saturday
