Built to Race
Start Date 30/11/2015
End Date 28/04/2017

The Build is open to all current members of KiwiModeller.
Open to ANY Scale of Model using any medium and any method of construction from OOB to complete Scratchbuilt.
ONLY Vehicles of four or more wheels, (excluding motorcycles and motorcycle-like vehicles (i.e. Quads and trike types)).
Depict ONLY motorised vehicles specifically designed and/or built to compete in any class of sanctioned motor racing events from any era, including Land Speed Record attempts. This may include Post Showroom modifications.
If possible, include written and/or photographic documentation of the vehicle/s you are depicting. Yes, we are looking to depict ACTUAL vehicles that have or do exist.
Artistic Bases/Dioramas are acceptable.
The model/s must be built in entirety within the specified build dates and the build should be accompanied by a thread in the specific “Built to Race” group build forum documenting regular progress. Post shots of your sprues, and documentation if you have any, at the beginning of your thread. By the end of the GB (and no later than 24 hours after the completion date) participants should post a minimum of five pictures of the completed build in the GB’s completed builds thread.
There is no entry fee for the GB, but a donation for the upkeep of Kiwimodeller is always welcome.

The winner of the group build will be decided by popular vote. Voting will run for seven days from the 28th of April 2017, ending Midday on the 5th of May 2017. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote.

Moderators for this GB are 1/35th Battalion (D1 – David) and one other person yet to offer their services.

Very cool classic Porsche! Getting the shade of 'turquoise' right will make a big diff to the final look..

Nice kit, assembly (Apart from flash clean up) should be quick with the low number of parts

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

Have fun with that flash clean-up :P
Have a look at Tamiya rattle-can colour range TS41 Coral blue which, in the printed page and on-screen, looks quite close to what you might want to achieve.

I'm really looking forward to watching this one progress. I have the Tamiya Jagermeister 1-24 934 RSR in the stash that I'm itching to build sometime soon but there are a few GB aircraft that I need to attend to first.

Cheers, I found similar when researching the Jagermeister 934s for reference material. I have a number of Jagermeister decals and kits for various cars they sponsored so one day I'll have a common theme linking them all. ;)

Tamiya's 1-12 scale 934 wasn't around for that long. I recall seeing it in the shops about 5-6 years ago and then it disappeared never to re-appear. Maybe sales for Tamiya on that kit fell below expectations?

Cool thanks, I didn't know of the book's existence. I might just have to have that one! :silly: I see it has the BMW 320 on the cover, the one Tamya Jagermeister boxing that I missed getting at the time it was in production.

You are probably right with the 1-12 Tamiya 934 kit. I guess it was just a limited re-release when I saw it, which would explain its brief appearance. If it re-appeared again I keep asking myself whether I would feel compelled to buy one?

Nice looking kit there. Not a brand I've come across before.
I take it that the rims are turned alloy ?.
Enjoy the build, don't get to see many 43rd kits being built.

Powder wrote: The Tamiya 320 comes with puny rear wheels as it was originally a motorized toy. You can get replacement wheels & tyres for it, but if you don't have the Tamiya kit already, I'd go for the Revell kit:
www.scalemates.com/kits/103230-revell-07358-bmw-320-gr-5

Edit: I've just noticed that the Revell kit box art shows the very early style rear wing, which I don't think is correct for a Jagermeister car. You might have to steal a Tamiya rear wing. Or it would be pretty easy to scratch build one.

Pity both kits are OOP. I guess they'll appear again as limited releases at some point in the future? I have so many kits to get on with in the interim that I don't have to sweat about it.

I can tell you that the Jagermeister 934RSRs had black interiors. Unfortunately the images that I have are Bitmaps, which don't work on this site.

Here are a couple of pix of Moritz 934s. The interior (rear) of the the second one is a restoration but its is good to see the layout of the harness and roll cage.
