I now have the space, so I am going up through the gears and moving into a phase of "heavy modeling" starting with the B-1B, I aim to build the Tu-160, the B-52. KC-135 Stratotanker the B-47, the B58 Hustler (in 1:48) and of course the B-36 Peacemaker.
Apparently the B-1B and B36 were the largest plastic kits available before HK and Sanger came on the scene (according to revell/monogram anyway).
So i for this period of obvious madness i have decided to call the man cave the "Skink Works",... in the same vein as the Skunk works but much smaller and Kiwi
Starting with the B-36, first mock-up, nice and small should be a quick build, Wingspan just shy of a meter.
So started properly on the double cockpit of the B-36, nothing exciting at the moment just a lot of green primer and some glue, but there are some nice detailed bits on this model which is surprising for its age.... some of it however is as bare as a babies bum, i will be modelling the bomb bay closed.
For instance for each of the observation blisters there is some nice details of fixed binoculars or possibly cameras, some of the panels in the cockpit are nicely molded too
Also.... for Rodger.... maybe i could build that B-36 scheme after alll !! i had bought the decals for another scheme but the second scheme is that awful scheme from the book!
So began this in earnest last night and have started detailing the two floors of the cockpit, i still need to weather the flight suits of the pilots but here goes!.
Added the obligatory weights to stop it from being a tail sitter even though its going on the wall
BUT DISASTER... the covering piece to the flexible nose cannon is missing i can see from its spot on the sprue it was torn off, possibly lost for ever (its not rattling around in the box - so??? milliput??? i will have to rescribe it all...

Can't quite make out he piece it is. Is it a panel that goes above the gun?
Are you any good with CAD? You might even find a 3D model on the interweb somewhere, that could be used to make a 3D print. I'd be happy to print it off for you, it's just the drawing bit that takes the time.
Ha yeah it does look like BA!!! never occurred to me!
And yes that box spar is nicely robust it does f-up the bomb bay a bit but hey i may do a bit of detailing to make it look better or close it up. I have dry fitted the wings several times to make sure its stable and there is no droop, revell/monogram got it right here it holds up well.
Cant say the same with the B-52 thats really bad, i brought a brass rod for that
@ Maarten thank you sir coming from you that's a huge compliment! they are soo small man i almost never do 1:72 it makes me cross eyed!
