This is a Group build to remember the sacrifices of Bomber Command and other air forces of the world during WWII
Bomber Command was founded in 1936, 4 years later on the night of May 11/12 1940, Bomber Command made it's first night time Raid. The build will run from 11th May 2016 until April 21st 2017 which date coincides with the last raid on Berlin.
See the "Rules" topic for more details.
The silver decals catch my eye too! And they really annoying. Didn't mention it in the build log but they basically came off the sheet with no glue, when dried they could just be brushed off. I saw the same thing on another build log of this kit. The wing roundels stuck on ok only after a flood of decal fix but seriously I was not waiting until midnight to repeat application, and I had already coated them with matt varnish before it got this obvious. Excuses
.. excuses.. Best thing may be to order a new decal set.
Well done getting this finished within the deadline. Gotta say its a pretty nice model and such a pity the decals were such cr@p. I thought Revell decals were generally ok, but with virtually no glue is pretty poor form from Revell.
For what it's worth, I have managed to correct the decals setting by cutting the surface down to the plastic and lifting the decal away from the plastic (easy- as by now the whole decal 'square' had separated from the plastic - even under the matt varnish coat!) and applying humbrol decalfix to the space between decal and plastic, resetting and then applying liberal coats of decalfix to the surface. Finally after 4 coats of decal setting product (!), applied a coat of Pledge (acrylic floor polish) to remove the silvering which was also on the outer surface of the decals . If anyone is planning to build this kit, just note it's all good until you come to the decals, then better purchase some alternatives!
Don't think I need to post a photo
