Here's my entry for the bomber command group build. A classic three colour Matchbox kit. :woohoo: This will be out of the box. The decals are toast after being in the box for 40 years but I have some replacements (which are for the wrong Mk, but I'll make do). I suspect this is going to be slap dash, even by my standards.

Great choice. I've always had a soft spot for Matchbox kits so I'll definitely be following this build.

Shame the decals are toast. The RCAF aircraft on the box art was famous in it's day.

A small start. The plastic is pretty hard. Sprue gates are very fine (probably better than a lot of recent kits). The glass is amazingly clear for sitting in the box that long. I sat there for about ten minutes pondering how to build and paint the turrets without messing them up and then making the obvious choice of completing them as painted sub-assemblies before gluing the fuselage halves together around them.

Look at that marvelous 1970s detail in the cockpit!

I was briefly tempted to go the whole hog and brush paint this but then sanity prevailed. Still, I'm not putting a jot of research into the build.

Matchbox aircraft was all I built 40 years ago. All hanging off the ceiling. Happy days :woohoo:

Yeah, Matchbox and Hasegawa were the kits of my youth. I haven't made any progress on this. I've had a head cold for going on two weeks. I'm taking three different immune suppressants, so these normally minor things hit hard. :S

I really want to finish this before the deadline but I might just have to make it a more basic build. I'm so busy with work and research at the moment. :side:

Nah don't dumb this down, as I said in the other thread I'd rather extend the end date to see what can be accomplished with more time.
