Andrew I actually have a spare cockpit set from my BigEd set, if you get stuck shout and I can send you mine while you wait and then just send me what you get.

How did you know I was planning on starting my type 97 for the Tanks GB

Thanks for the offer G1, I'll see what happens by the start of next week, and we can go from there. We get post Monday, Thursday and Friday here, so fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

I'm still waiting on the replacement cockpit PE set to arrive from Eduard

It was actually the prospect of a looming deadline which made me get the Halifax out of its box again and jump start progress on it- just like with real work

Well you aren't off the hook, just released the tension on the line a little bit.

Sorry folks that was just me being mean to poor old Malcolm :P
You're kind of right and I do feel bad about extending it but given the amount extra work going into some of these builds I'd like to see the momentum continued. If we shut the GB down they will languish on people's shelves

I'm in a quandary as to what to do,
On one hand I think its only fair to those who stepped up and finished their builds on time to close this Group Build on the date specified.
On the other hand there are those that have started overly ambitious projects and won't get done on time.

For me personally I'm probably a couple of months away from finishing (unless I rush), I don't know how far away others are from completing their projects.

I'm leaning towards sticking to what I originally laid down as the "rules" even if that means it's only a one horse race. Rules are there for a reason (other than breaking :P ). I guess that if it was about winning I should've picked a quicker project or started sooner, so I don't personally have any excuse. We keep extending and extending the different GBs but this penalises those that have worked hard to complete on time.

I'm easy either way but my gut feeling is that unless there's a unanimous agreement to extend I think we should wrap this up on the 21st, what say you?

G1.

I am happy to see this one end on the date originally stated. There is no way I will finish unfortunately. Sorry Gary!

Like I said I'm totally alright with whatever the decision is, I'm just trying to do what is right by you guys/gals.
I'd hate to be thought of as someone who says one thing then does something else, and I especially don't want people to think I'm just extending this because I'm still working on my entry.

If that's what is prefered then so be it, it's a shame I would've liked to have seen more finishers over the line for this one but at least now I can stop rushing my own Lanc build.

I suggest finishing this one on the due date, voting for or declaring a winner, and distributing a prize as per usual.

Then start another Bomber Command GB Part II - perhaps with a 6 or 8 month finish time - and a proviso that entries can have been started already, provided a photographic record exists which satisfies the usual GB record keeping provisions.

There's enough material in Bomber Command for several GBs IMHO.

I still want to do my Airfix Stirling ... and the rate I'm going these days I'll need at least 6 months ...

Nah this is a one off for me, someone else can do this idea if they want.
I've got two more evenings left and I'm still rescribing the fuselage where I've erased the detail from sanding back the joins. I've now got the missing Eduard frets courtesy of Fooesboy but I'm too far off now to finish in two days.

I wanted to finish this build but once the GB is finished I will move on to something else as I just don't have the staying power to continue. I've already started another project and picked up an old one while I was waiting for the missing parts for this Lanc  , I'll get back to it eventually.

I'm fine either way

Maybe we officially close it as per the original date, but unofficially we can keep going (those who have started) with the notion of bringing the completed build/s to AiC?

Personally I'd of liked to have finished it, but rules are rules and even I have to stick to them.
I've already moved on to a commiseration build, dug out a Stug III Aus F from the stash last night, also dusted off the 1/32 B-25 to see how bad it was hence the reason for shelving it for the past two years.

What ever is easiest for you, I doubt there will be many others and we've already seen yours finished so there's no real worry.
