As approved by G1, I will supply the below item as a prize for this GB.

Was given it by a relative who works for a book distribution crowd and while an interesting read, it isn't really within my area of interest but I'm sure others will find it worthwhile. It has replicas of maps and other paperwork obtained from the Imperial War Musuem and heaps of info and images from the early development all the way through to the end of the war. Worth about $70-80 NZD or so from what I can find online and a rather fitting prize given the desired scope of the GB.

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

How about we open this GB up to include Shackletons? That kind of fits in with the spirit of the GB being a four-engine "heavy" with props. 1949 is not too far removed from 1945 and my Airfix kit is just begging me to build it. :)

I was thinking of letting this one slide as Bomber Command didn't shut it's doors until 1968 but as we have so many other GBs on the go and planned I think I can safely stick to my guns (and bombs) and say.
"Sorry Steve, I'd rather stay as true to the original idea as possible without watering down the intended spirit of the build too much".

Just dig out one of your many Hasegawa Lancs we all know you got stashed away. :D
A general info nugget for people, there also won't be any extensions to the end date, 11 1/2 months is enough ;)

Absolutely, as long as it served between 1936 and cessation of hostilities in 1945 (happy to stretch it out to September 1945 as that was the end of hostilities and VJ day).
I've even toyed with doing an ASR Liberator from one of the SEAC Squadrons.

Im not going to make any promises, but with the better part of a year and a couple of kits that will meet criteria in the stash ill be keeping this in mind.
Im always telling myself that I need to build a nice big kit.

Stand aside caffine, this is a job for alcohol.

Yes it's a nice kit. But I'd want to do the Box Scheme which is Post War and thus ineligible for this GB.

I have the Airfix Lancaster in the Stash which has the Tiger Force Scheme so that might be an option or I might Stick with the Venerable Hampden and try and tart it up a bit... Or given the time allowed have a go at both...

Cheers
John

Delivery of SW377 was June 1945 so it does in fact fit as a wartime aircraft.

This one keeps coming to me in my dreams...

I had this dream that Marty McFly ripped all the gear out of his DeLorean and stuck it in a modern day Shackleton and transported himself back in time to 1943 and he flew a few sorties over Germany on behalf of RAF Bomber Command. Just saying like...

Now there's a thought. I have that Lanc boxing so I could just swap the contents with those in the Shack box. No-one would ever now the difference? :woohoo:

Yeah I'm hoping to sit down tonight and sort the image out, I want to make it a button similar to the ones we've used in the past.
Thanks guys.

In my entire stash, I only have one model that fits the requirements:

But it is going to be built as something out of here:

It's part started, so a bit later in the year, I might post some pics and see if the "startedness" is acceptable for the build or not. Plenty to go on with in the meantime.

On The Bench
Eduard/Hasegawa 1/72 Liberator GR.V
Tamiya 1/48 Martlet IV conversion

Rather than hijack arrowtraders Halifax build thread, I thought I'd post my support for an extension on the end date here.

I'm still waiting on the replacement cockpit PE set to arrive from Eduard

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

That's actually a good thing for me to, I want to spend more time doing detail work on mine to.
I think we close new entrants and work on a new date which at this point I'm happy to be flexible as long as the builds continue to get updates etc.
This doesn't mean you can stop working on this and go build something else :P
Andrew I actually have a spare cockpit set from my BigEd set, if you get stuck shout and I can send you mine while you wait and then just send me what you get.
