Nice choice of build.
I'll do an official post later tonight but as it stands it's going to be 1936 - 1945 Multi engined aircraft with dedicated bomb dropping mechanisms be it racks or bays.
I'm trying to secure some some extra toys for prizes, I've been in contact with Mig and AK and I'm hoping to hear back from either to see who will come to the party. The Gift voucher from Mighty Ape/BNA/Amazon is still on the table as the main prize and I also have a nice book that was donated as a prize, it will be or particular interest to NZ aviation fans.

I may or may not enter this one (bombers aren't really my thing) but I will see what I've got in the stash. I may however have something that I could donate as a prize that I'm sure anyone who has an interest in ww2, and primarily RAF, bombers would be thrilled to have. I will double check later and confirm with G1 as to whether or not I still have what I am referring to.

Darn, the thought of a Bomber Command GB has been growing on me since it was floated. I pretty much have all of Bomber Command's aircraft in the stash but haven't touched any of them yet. What a pity Tamiya hasn't got a Mossie B.Mk.IV out yet in 1-32 scale, that would be ideal. I suspect it will be Xmas 2016 before I make a start on a kit and hopefully I'll be able to finish it in time?

I'm still waiting to hear back from potential sponsors, I'll wait until I have more info before posting something. In the mean time put your builds proposals here and I'll move them when I've created the main thread. This Group Build is due to run from 11th May until April 21st 2017.

I'll go with a Vickers Wellington. Scale and Mk. undecided as yet.

Will do a bit of research on kits reviews and costs

Great minds think alike. Though I'm looking at the Trumpeter 1/48 Mk. IC or III B)

I'll represent the german heavies with this 4 engined beastie, the Luftwaffenfeuerzeug (luftwaffe lighter) or the "Flaming Coffin"...

I have removed some bits from the sprues and done a few of the small assemblies but less than 5% overall of the build so hopefully it still applies for the GB.

Here is one for G1 to clear up for my poor confused mind.

When I look at the topic it is for a group build in respect of RAF Bomber Command, though RAF is missing from the topic line. However, we know Bomber Command relates to the RAF because it was formed in 1936 and controlled the RAF's bomber forces from 1936 through to 1986. 2016 is the 80th anniversary.

Re-reading through the proposal of what's included in the GB it states "Any country".

So now I'm thinking that this GB is not about RAF Bomber Command at all, it is just about bombers, any country, any bomber, prop or jet, any service utilising bombers manufactured from 1936-45.

Some clarification and a correct GB topic would be useful thanks.

Believe me I would love to make it RAF only, but I don't want to thin the heard too much.
So alas I've had to lower my expectations and open the competition up to a wider audience.
The topic stays, as that is the purpose of this GB but it wouldn't be much fun for everyone else.
This is a personal GB to me, call it pulling rank ;)

Ha you've actually hit on one of my "oneday" planned builds, I want to one day built Trig's Liberator, I've collected all the parts, Dumbo, Leigh Light etc, I just need the right time to build it.
If you need any info on the Coastal Command libs I know a fella that has a fair amount of info ;)

I was tempted by the 1/48 Trumpeter too. The Matchbox kit is a bit of a nostalgia build for me. I always saw this kit on the top shelf at the toy store, but it never ended up in the Xmas stocking.

As it happens Liberator GR.V BZ832 "D" is my chosen subject. It's been on the must build list since the 1980's.

I may just have to tap the guy that runs the RAF B-24 dot com site and see what he can help me with.

I still have a 1987 Matchbox catalogue. (will have to take some pics of it) I cant tell you the hours spent pouring over the model pages, crafting up ideas for all the kits

Mine wont be starting for a long time lol. Have my kits planned out for this year, so will be early next year if everything goes to plan. Possibly earlier if I manage to smash out a lot of models lol

Really cool idea for a build and I have a few possible contenders in the stash, but probably won't be able to make a start until the tail end of 2016 as well. :cheer:

Probably a silly question but figured I'd ask anyway...

Would this be eligible?

I was thinking of doing it in an RAF desert scheme over azure blue if I ever got around to it.
The build might be a good excuse to actually do it if it fits the criteria.

Does it have more than one engine? Yes
Does it have dedicated bomb racks? Yes
Does it have the designation of Bomber? Yes

As far as I'm concerned it definitely fits the criteria.

G1, did you get my PM about my item for a prize? If you did and are cool with it, chuck it on the prize list and I will bring it to model x or armistice or wherever I catch up with you next for you to hang onto (and peruse no doubt) until it gets sent to it's recipient.
