NZ6256 RNZAF 50th Anivesary Golden Skyhawk was created by Flying_Kiwi
Hi all build 2 in my Scooter challenge.

The Golden Skyhawk, 2nd time i've done this in 1:48, the previous build now sits on the base commanders desk at Ohakea (well that's what phil tells me....oooh such name dropping)

So its the not so famous Hobby World Kit, but not too bad as fit goes,.. equivalent to an early hase i'd say.

First up basic cokcpit which i won't go into much detail on, canopy this time will be closed and gear will be out with all flaps stowed. will be making some intake covers

Since this is a fairly easy build of a model know well should not be too long.... well thats what i thought.

now.... the fun...

got it all painted... gold leaf... (so far only 2-3 nights work)

Didn't forget to do the glare paint this time! YES!, Lastime i had the decals on and everything done until i noticed i'd missed all the black paint.... doh!

Then a coat of gloss to make decal mounting easier...

I use Micro Sol and Micro Set these days for the larger decals like the flashes on this kit. now i have run into issues with the Old models digital decals. i have found them too thick for my tastes, sent an email to john... don't want to go into it here as i really do appreciate his work.

This is one of the issues decals not conforming and cracking

Model Alliance decals on their way... and a coat of mr muscle coming soon to remove well and truly stuck down decals.

BUT WAIT... now i have plowed through this build and gotten stuff done quickly but have missed a major major detail... my mind is not on the job...

400 million "modelling" points for the chap who can figure it out.... its pretty major... doh #2 i really should write down the mods i need to do ahead of time...

Man, that was quick.
Is the issue not having the squared off tail?

Yep the imaginary prize goes to you!!

I can't belive I actually trimed the decal because it didn't fit
Like I'm cutting the decal and not thinking "maybe it doesn't fit because the tail
Is not bloody square"

Idiot. Ahh well it's a re paint anyway.

I thought it was having the Kiwi roundel on the wing orientated incorrectly...

That was the other thing I thought was off but since FK said he was taking the decals off anyway (I think) I didn't think that was the one he was referring to... They are supposed to be parallel to the fuselage aren't they, not perpendicular?
