Nearly got the office sorted.........................

I see where I've made a few errors but basically I just wanted a generic cockpit - something that looks as though someone that flies a plane would sit there :P

Was surprised that the kit seats are remarkably similar to the ESCAPAC IG3 (photo stolen from Ohakea Museum - I'm like Facebook, once I've seen a photo on the net I own it  )

That's all now for now folks, mind the cobwebs on the way out

Looking good DA.
Surprisingly enough, the kit seat isn't much worse than the resin pavla one I got for my build, in fact the whole cockpit doesn't really need to be replaced with resin, especially since you can't see bugger all once it's together (in the single seater anyway, the 2 seater is probably a bit more visible).
Between the different versions of the seats, there was very little, if any, visual differences between them.

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

After months of procrastination I have finally settled on a scheme. Its the third aircraft in in the Group Build banner.
From what I understand it was purchased from RAN in July 1984 and flew as a G until December 1986 when it was upgraded to a K and then in 1987 she was painted in the 50th Anniversary Golden scheme.
I want to build it as it was in it's earlier RNZAF life and perhaps I'm a little lazy but the US Grey and White scheme should look a bit different ( and easy ;) )
I have found limited photos of this plane as a Kiwi bird and some good photos of it as a Navy jet in June 84 but what I cant figure out is should it have the hole in the top of the fuselage (part D 20) ???
Any help would be appreciated and all opinions will be considered.

Time to clear the bench and get busy  Mojos cooking!!

I finished '56 in that scheme in 1/72 from the Fujimi kit last year.
File Attachment:

Couple of things I noticed. In the formation pic '56 is wearing tanks painted in the later RAN wraparound grey/grey scheme, and the ailerons are not white as they would have been in the RAN. The story I heard is that the RNZAF pilots found the white ailerons difficult to use as a reference for formating on, so they were replaced with what was described as "green" ones. I saw enough of a hint of different tones on another pic of the same sortie to take some liberty and give my model fully "Euro-1" camouflaged ailerons for colour/interest :)

It seems a fairly bland scheme at first, but it's actually got elements of four different schemes on one aircraft in that pic.

Yes, the TA-4 has that vent on the fuselage spine as well, despite Hasegawa's own instructions telling you to fill it in. Use kit part D20 (or even A11 will suffice) instead of the blank plate Hasegawa suggest (A12) in step 4.

Keep going DA - be good to see this one cross the line too.

That looks great Mumbles. I have seen two other photos of that sortie and I agree with the green ailerons.

The underwing interior detail looks very good. Is this the kit or added detail from yourself?

Got a wee bit done today.......

Got a bit greedy and added 15grams of nose weight (240grains of Dirty Harry to be precise)

Tucked up with a little blue tack. COG is well forward :silly:

As she sits, wing not glued.

Hope to shoot primer coat tomorrow and check fit before attaching wings :)

Your on ;)

Used acrylic NATO black thinned 2 paint :1 thinners with Lacquer thinners as a primer/pre-shade coat.
Might have not been thin enough as it's a powdery finish and the brush was spitting a wee bit.
It was 2 degreesC in the shed while I was painting so I just "got it done"
