Man, you are going all out for your first aircraft build!.
Some nice goodies there. I hope you have had some experience with resin before cause you are gonna need it I think, especially with the Aires cockpit. I have never heard of a drop in aires cockpit before so you are going to have to do a lot of sanding and tweaking to get it to fit properly I think.
I will however be following this with great interest to see how you get on...
yea well I thought if im going to do im going to do it right..
yip I worked with resin before done whole truck cabs which is always a bit of fun
but yea ive noticed there is a lot of tweaking to get these cockpits to fit right so fingers crossed
To be honest, the cockpit opening is so small, I've found the Aires pit is a little wasted on the Skyhawk. The Hasegawa Skyhawk has to be one of the few kits which really does not require a lot of aftermarket to build an exceptional model. Most of the resin for this kit does not add much over the kit parts, but I will definitely be watching progress with interest.
ok guys going to start again
I used to post my photos with facebok but for some reason its not letting me use the shortcut anymore so have taken the leap and started a flickr account
I think all my parts have arrived now so here are the photos
as craig said looking over the kit the detail seems to be very good compared to the aftermarket products
im a bit disappointed the metal landing gear seems to be very basic and the aires kit looks very good but the detail in like the wheel wells not as good as the kit but I will see what I can do
one question what is the quickboost exhaust nozzle it look a lot longer and maybe doesn't belong with this kit?
also in the aires kit a bit of a woopsy I got 2 of the same piece rather than a left and a right I contacted where I got it and they are going to forward it on but I fell that it will take a while to resolve and I maybe past the point of installing it if and when I get a replacement
anyways enough of a ramble here we go.. please let me know what you think..
hahaha and mr flying kiwi
I have got a f-16 and a tomcat to build so maybe I can use them on those
im not sure I don't know a lot about planes so will probably just build it coz it looks cool that's all haha
hey everyone.. well I made a start.. having been working on a few things the last couple days managed to throw some primer on the cockpit and start the detail painting and assembly.. also had a look at the air intakes and nose too.. anyways still lots to do let me know what you think.. cheers nic
Looking good so far r4b1t.
It's better to add the photos and insert them into your post, that way they get uploaded to the KM website and don't fill your post with red X's when the pics go missing from flickr. Shout out if you need a quick tutorial on how to do it (it's pretty easy).
