A-4K NZ6205 (Early) Build was created by IanW
Ok, I think I have everything I need to start this build in 1/32:

Trumpy- A4-4E Kit
Eduard - slats set (bit nervous about replacing all the wing vanes!), seat set and cockpit set
Resin (make?) seats
Old Models- decal set (also have the Ronin set for later A-4s- probably won't need)
Scale Aircraft Conversions- nose leg and separate wheel
References
Inspiration - the picture on the front of the NZ Military Aircraft booklet I got in 1977!

You manage to source a bent refuelling probe? The kit only comes with a straight one (as does the trumpy F model too, only the M comes with a bent probe) Or are you going to try and bend the kit one into shape?
Will be watching with interest...

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

Easier to section it with a couple of angle cuts and then just rotate the middle segment before re-gluing and cleaning up. I did it in 1/72 once, should be easier in 32nd :) Measure carefully though, I think the cranked probe is slightly shorter in overall length than the straight one.

Prior to 1973 or so all the A-4K's had straight probes anyway.

its odd isnt it, the E box pic shows a bent probed aircraft. I thought the F version was closer to our old scooters, especially around the cockpit and nose cone.
If you carefully and slowly bend the straight probe by heating in hot water, it should shorten to the correct length as the angles will help there.
I will be watchin all the way on this one Ian. about to buy the F version.

Update In Stash:
Lots of 1/35 Armor mainly WWII German and a few Modern British/American pieces, 1/32 Aircraft and 1/48 Aircraft. Aircraft chosen to replicate RNZAF and RAAF types through the years. Some RAF & USAF types exist also.

All good then! I knew they were delivered to NZ with straight probes but I always thought they got changed pretty soon after we got them, not 3 years down the line...

Both the K and G were essentially F's but with various bits and pieces added or deleted according to RNZAF and RAN requirements. Externally though there is little difference around the cockpit and nose of the basic E/F airframe - the real differences single seater nose section wise are between the E/F and the noses of the earlier B/C versions, and the later M.

Don't forget the white drop tanks too or silver fern roundels if you are going for super early :)

Sorry, won't be super early - kiwi roundels and camo drop tanks I think.

I'm going for the look of the A4 on the cover of that book in my first ostc - a very formative image for my young mind at the time!! :)

But still plenty of water to go under the (modelling) bridge before i get to that point! Trying to get my TEAL 1/144 DC-6 and RSAF 1/48 F-16D completed prior to start date!

Cheers,
Ian

Ok, my first update... compared to some others on this thread, I am miles behind after over a month!

Oh well, I've made a start bending and gluing photo-etch, hopefully get some paint on soon...

By the by, can anyone please point me in the direction of some detail pics of the canopy actuation area in the cockpit rear please?

Cheers,
Ian

Ok, a little bit of progress! I'm about to glue the frong fuse halves together so thought I'd post a couple of pics.

A few small additions but mainly the Eduard colour etch set...

Pit is looking awesome with that PE and the air hose is incredible detail. Never seen something like that in a model before. B)

Bloody clever. Bugger, I just changed my guitar strings and threw away the off-cuts :pinch:
