Yeah that's a really good idea Wally, like you don't really have a clue about NZ Skyhawks (and sorry for saying this not much interest either, but I've got to build one for a friend and thought I'd tie it in with the GB ;) )

Wow. That is a question with a significant answer. Pre Kahu pretty much any A-4E kit

1/72
Fujimi
Esci/Italeri

1/48
Hasegawa/Revell
Monogram
Italeri

1/32
Hasegawa
Trumpeter

If you start talking Post Kahu, the F-16 style modernisation of the aircraft avionics, then the only kit that comes close is the long OOP and highly sort after Hasegawa kit which was still only 90% accurate.

For a TA-4K, then:

1/72
Fujimi
Hasegawa

1/48
Hasegawa

1/32
Hasegawa

As to mods for each airframe, find a reference picture.

You can't use an A-4M/N as the intakes and canopy are significantly different and can't be modified.

That's a very high level. For anything more specific, you'll have to ask.

If a Skyhawk kit you are looking at for an RNZAF jet is not listed here, run, don't walk, away from it

For A-4M/N , OA-4M or any of the earlier models, that is a completely different discussion.

Anything in 1/72 from Fujimi and anything in 1/48 from Hasegawa is safe and best of scale.

Given that the AZ kit is the Classic Airfames kit is 80% Hasegawa knock off in think you're good to go. Never seen it int the flesh so can't comment on Kiwi specific bits.

Ooohh dear.
Have two Esci A-4's in the closet. I shall have to dip my oar in tentatively.

Even picked up a set of Microscale RNZAF/Singas stickers.

The AZ Mod/CA TA-4J is an acceptable 2-seat. Plus you get some bee-yoo-tee-ful resin, especially the seats.
I'm still keeping an eye out for another. Doing the commission builds resurrected the burn for SEA schemes on the shelf.

I like to have the practise on SEA colours. BTW, I have T.O.s for 3-colour schemes, if anyone needs them.

Regards

Rossky

Gazza has created the GB forum, so I will look at getting some threads underway later on. Will make sure to include a reference section as well.

I'll put my hand up Craig. I may or may not be able to find funds for the kit I want to get but at the very least I can help out with the moderating...

Only 5 days till kick off peoples... Hopefully everyone has their kits sorted and a clear workbench ready for this GB. If you haven't done so already, make sure you each start a new topic for your build so everyone can keep track of how everyone else is going (not compulsory but it will benefit everyone).
Looking forward to next monday so I can get stuck in to some skyhawk plastic!

Busy at work right up to the afternoon of the 24th, so I'll start-up just after Christmas. Looking forward to it.

I have updated the guidelines for the challenge and also added a gallery with its own guidelines.

Please read both of the postings carefully to ensure you are up to date on what is required.

Roll on Monday and lets have some fun building our Scooters and Squawks.
