Ok i know this should really be in the showcase part but until i can take good photos of my stuff i would rather not, but i still wanted to share the out come of this build.
This was going to be a quick build to get something finished after spending a week or so detailing the engine bay of the Z in the panel shop dio, but it evolved when i found that the detail on the kit was pretty basic. The Laurel's were offered as a sedan or coupe in the C30,C130,C230 ('68-'80) models but sedan only for the C31,C32,C33,C34 and C35 ('80-'02) models. I had seen photos of R32 skyline coupes and the C33 Laurel front panels on and for some reason i really liked the look of it. But it was still a skyline the back end and the body swage lines did not match the laurel front end. So in the stash was an R32 skyline coupe with equally as bad detail as the laurel kit Time to make a Laurel coupe
As i wasn't doing a follow as i build type thing i didn't take too many photos but here are the few i did take as i went along
So the skyline roof was added to the laurel body but for some reason i didn't think to shorten the body and it wasn't until i had primed it that i realised and then had to cut it up again to get the dimensions looking right. Also meant shortening the floor pan.
I was planning on removing the side windows but as i said these are basic kits so they got tined instead to hide the fact there's not much to see. I polished the side windows to remove the framing that the skyline has to make it look like the hardtop (frameless and pillarless) windows of the laurel. Also lowered it a bit and added 18in TE37 wheels from Aoshima. So it's no show winner but i happy with the look of this "what if" 1989 Nissan C33 Laurel Coupe what do you lot think?
Reminds me of when D1NZ exploded years ago, and there were all types of front cuts going on lol there were Cefiros with Skyline fronts, also the jap Imported Sil-eighty. My favourite was a Stagea wagon that had a R34 GTR front end grafted on
Thanks everyone, I have seen the stagea/R34 GTR combo, Years ago my younger brother brought a stagea with plans to do that but like most young guys he sold it before that happened. But you got me thinking i know fujimi did a stagea kit and there's plenty of R34 kits out there. Might be a good kitbash to have a go at and give to him if it works out
