The box is 65 cm by 48 cm so not small by any means. The main hull which is in two sections is about 60 cm long when assembled..

Yeah it's a nice looking kit,
I've got mine sat there to, plus a replacement engine set that Chris sourced. Its the drilling of 700+ holes and the plumbing in of 100m of fiber optics that is a bit daunting lol

The temptation to buy the premade lighting kit was squashed pretty quick when you see the price is basically the same as the kit.

E-bay is your best bet to get one as that's where I got mine.

Straight from mother russia in a pillow case seems to be the norm for these from eBay...

Yeah i think they are a bit better now. I remember in the early days when it was first available the horror stories of people getting them in pillow cases and the boxes were completely destroyed but the parts usually survived unscathed. I think Revell has finally reboxed it in english, don't know if we will see it here any time soon though.

I know Revell were meant to be doing a rebox but I've never seen anything about it, not even on E-bay.

The Revell rebox has hit the shelves in the US, and I believe that it is also reasonably priced too. Postage from the US is way too expensive these days so I would suggest that you get them from Russia or lobby Mighty Ape to stock them.... I might even pick up a second if that was to happen!

Not going to happen sorry buddy. Licensing issues & the pricing would be obscene from the numbers which myself & the revell disty ran for it.

mine came via eBay
personally I just sort by cheapest +shipping and then ignore anyone with less than 98% or under 1000 feedbacks
that has worked most of the time, and the times it hasn't the seller either refunds or the eBay resolution service has sorted it

The amount of detail upgrades that are available on shapeways for the Zvezda/Revell ISD is mind boggling. Where do you draw the line?

Needless to say I haven't touched mine yet as I can't decide to just build it out of the box or get a little carried away :)

Here are all of my Star Destroyer upgrade parts from Shapeways.

Devastator replacement shield domes
Devastator dorsal gun turrets
Devastator bridge face
Garbage chute
Devastator main batteries

Devastator primary and secondary engine bells
Devastator trench quad laser batteries
Devastator tractor beam emitters
Side trench plates
Main hanger which is in two parts and I only got the bottom half....

Given the crap week I’ve had that’s not surprising...

Had some more bits arrive from Shapeways this afternoon. Now I can finally finish my Star Destroyer :D I'd like to say by the end of the weekend but I don't think I'll be that lucky. Will be finished during the week though. :)

Now that is cool! It's a decent size and the details look good. Well built too!
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks :) It was fun to build, once I had all the bits I wanted off of Shapeways. Though if I ever build another I'd build it a little differently.

Really nice work Don. What would you do differently? I have this in the stash and want to build sometime fairly soonish, but don't know if I'll splash out for the shapeways parts. Also, where was the base from?

The base was bought off of ebay. The sellers name is displaystandsdirect The shipping wasn't cheap but I did get two other stands for other ship models as well so wasn't to bad.

As for what I'd do differently, basic stuff really, like making sure all the parts fit correctly as I ran into fitting issues. And fit some of the Shapeways parts last as some got damaged in final assembly, rotten luck more than anything.
