F-16K Falcon/Viper, 75 Sqn, RNZAF was created by Craig Sargent
If no objections, I'll be doing a "what should be", not "what if", using the Hasegawa 1/72 F-16A Plus Fight Falcon kit (#B1). Plan is to do it as it would perhaps appear after a Mid-Life Upgrade similar to the upgrades a lot of the European F-16As went through.

Upgrades which mean it would be the A airframe, but have the ability to carry JDAM GPS-guided bombs, advanced targetting pods, AMRAAM, and a newer paint scheme than the intended Pakistani Air Force colours. If I get keen enough, may even see what I can come up with by way of 75th Anniversary tail scheme (maybe).

(Model by by Ă–mer Erkmen from Hyperscale showing Pakistani scheme)

Something along the lines of "75 Sqn F-16K Falcon post-Project Ruru". Won't be starting until after Nats are done and dusted. Will also grab these for stores (thinking AIM-9X, AIM-120C, Sniper pod, GBU-38 JDAM)

And then I can rob some bits from the spares left over from my F-16I and F-16E/F kits for Ruru specific lumps and bumps. Colour wise I am leaning towards an all over gunship grey scheme with low viz black markings (same scheme as current C-130s).

I could also use the Kinetic twin seater I'm picking up this weekend (I only got it for the weapons and pods mainly. I just happen to be getting a plane kit with it  )

Hmmmmm might have to put the superbug back in the WOS (wardrobe of shame   ) and do some f16's.....

Damn you Craig, could you stop building different planes! :P First the harriers now the f16 :pinch:

With the big Harrier nearly done, needed a 'next project'. T-38 will run in same timeframe as the F-16, but F-16 needs to be done for our November club meeting which is an RNZAF Theme Night for 75th Anniversary build.

Going to start sourcing bits this week so I'm ready to go. The only aftermarket I'll add will be a Quickboost seat and possibly a Master Models pitot set, both of which I keep good stock of.

For those interested, let me know if you would like decals as I have RNZAF F-16 low viz (i.e. all black)decals I can custom print in 1/72, 1/48 or 1/32 for a reasonable cost. I can customise a number of items, such as roundel type (black kiwi, black circle with clear kiwi, black roundel with black kiwi), tail number NZxxxx, 2 Sqn and/or 75 Sqn badge and various stencils.

I may just take you up on that offer Craig, although I do want one with the euro1/lizard scheme with the red and blue roundels... I'll be in touch soon regarding some 1/48 decals...

Ohhhhh nice.
I was thinking the other day about camo schemes and I was thinking an overall green like the last scooter colour scheme for the a model and maybe a dark grey/mid green/light grey for the c/d (which ever I build). Similar to bikingmike's rafale but change the blue for a mid green. I might try to do some colour schemes this weekend to demonstrate what I mean.

I've got something special being worked on for this one. More will be revealed down the track.

As nice a scheme as the Euro I/Lizard scheme is, we would not have used it on the F-16s, and it is not cost worthy or practical to maintain. I thought about the overall green, but thinking about possible roles/uses for the F-16, and the way the rest of the Air Force fleet is now, all over grey seemed more logical to me.

Working on the basis that Jenny Shipley did such a good job in office, she went on to be re-elected for a full three terms as Prime Minister and completed the F-16 deal, successfully sold the A-4s, restoring ANZUS at the same time, while Helen Clark, having lost the election went off to be an aid worker in some back of beyond, third world country.

Stuck in Christchurch for work for 3 and a half days, so needed something that would travel easily and was easy to work on (i.e. no painting needed). Chucked all the bits needed for the F-16 in my bag along with a tool kit. Got some construction done last night and probably get quite a bit done before I head home. Repurposed this an an IDF/AF F-16C Barak.

Have decided that this one will also be gear up - in-flight.
