N scale Shotgun House build was created by Grant
Started on this. It's a fairly simple laser cut kit, and has gone together pretty easily.

This is what you get in the bag. It's pretty small. The finished house is 1 by 3 inches.

Cutting the bits out.

Gluing the walls together.

Tiny little windows and doors. I was worried they would break easily, but they're actually pretty robust.

Gluing in the doors...

... and windows.

And the state of play. Time to paint it. What colours are fashionable for run down desert shacks this season?

Cool little project :)

Must resist temptation to start railroad modelling.... :silly:

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

It is tempting, but I think the closest I'll get to railroad modelling is building Trumpeters armoured train

I'll just watch from afar for now ;)

I believe Trumpeter do one very similar.

Yes Trumpeter do, there are some in our local hobby shops. Not cheap though, those trains.

No they're not but they're beautiful kits. I bought the Br.52 Loco for about $150-00 Aussie. Even out of the box it's a ripper. Now Voyager do ne fewer than four PE sets for that or all four in a 'Deluxe' set. It looks amazing with the brass, a quad 20mm and a few figures.
Great looking house Grant. I used to have some 'N' Scale trains, it's a great scale. Fits more into a smaller space.
Peace.

It was the most dangerous of all sports and the most fascinating. It got in the blood like wine. It aged men forty years in forty...

I've finished this and put it on the layout. Here is the first update.

After some painting, putting the glazing in. The front porch warped with the paint. I fixed it up by manfully bending it back. :S

Putting the roof on. These are stickers. They're actually a little short so they don't quite cover the roof.

Fully roofed and with the chimney. Someone left the back door open.

Painting the roof. I went for a dark blue to give a bit of relief with all the brown and green on the layout. The masking is so I can shoot a layer of flat over it.

And finished (apart from a light wash). Painting looks a bit ruff, but the house is only an inch wide.

And on the layout. I built a little dirt platform out of plaster.

Cheers Steve. I have a pick up truck to park outside the house. I wonder if I can scratchbuild a 1/160 rocking chair for the porch. :cheer:

Nice work Grant, you'd hardly believe it's N scale. You've done a great job on the assembly; those small scale can really show up any flaws in construction if you're not careful.

One teensy weensy critique if you don't mind; I think the roof needs to be faded a lot more - it's quite a strident blue, and doesn't really match its desert environs. Maybe some peeling paint on the walls wouldn't look out of place either. Just my 2c worth... :)

The only other thing it needs is an abandoned car on the section :D

Cheers

Mike

Good points. I'll have to do some extra weathering. :)

I'm going, I don't like the roof, I don't like the roof, then I see it in place and its perfect. That's just right
