Long Tan and the 161 Battery was created by PhantomPhreakII
HI all,

Having seen the documentary yesterday (onlilne) about Long Tan.. I started looking into the RNZA 161 battery. They used L5 howitsers and I have come up completely emptyhanded when looking for on of these in 35th scale. Then I rememberd Kiwi modeler.. and thought.. why not they could be a real good source... so.. doe anyone here know of such a howitzer in 35th scale??

Thanks
Harald

If it's the same as the British L118 then kitformservices.com/

I hope you don't find anything Harald, because then you'd have to break your resolution of not buying any models this year.

Your search needs at least another 4 1/2 months :)

No the L118 is the current in service 105mm gun. The L5 was a much smaller Italian Oto Melara 56 pack howitzer.

If my memory is correct there used to be a 1/35th white metal/resin model.

There was discussion on the thread below where it is believed Britians diecast is the only example.

There are several on Ebay at the moment.

...no one makes the L5 pack howitzer, I have spent many hours looking.

The current L118/L119 is available in 1/76, 1/35 and 1/24.

Aussie armour made the 1/35 ones, I have 3 in my stash. one is made behind my unimog.

Not much help for Harald, but I've found an L5 in 1/72 scale from S&S Models.

I'm tempted to buy one. Anyone else interested in a group buy?

Italeri are currently asking customers what they want them to build. As L5 were originally made in Italy they may be interested. I have already sent in my wish for Oto Melara Mod 56 in 1/35th. Get you bids in .... www.italeri.com/news_scheda.asp?idNews=681
