Build whatever you feel comfortable building, if you get bored building one subject do something different until you get your mojo back. We like to see anything being built whether it's aircraft, trucks or spaceships so crack on McDuff :)

I now have more or less a complete rolling chassis. Got to add things like the mudguards and the engine, once I get it painted and work out all the damned plumbing! Also when we get a halff decent day I'll have to spray paint the chassis :)

Cracking on indeed. Excellent!!
Great to see something that's not military around here. (Me Guilty :silly: )

I'm in total agreement with D1 on both those points. Looking both good and refreshingly non-military.
Keep it up. This is enjoyable to watch.

I'm going to get a big head if you guys keep it up! Glad you're enjoying this as much as I am. I do like my tanks and what not but I've always been a truck collector more than anything else.

After much consideration there will be a trailer bought as well (when I have the money, haha) It'll be the Italeri TOPAS tanker trailer in BP livery so the DAF painted to match should look quite smart. Watch this space ;)

Trucking awesome :-)

Keep it coming, I have a couple of trucks in the stash that might be moved up the list if I follow this build

We had a very pleasant day in Chch today got warm enough in the garage to do some airbrushing. Not mad enough to brush paint the chassis. :) Got the paint a little thin but seemed to work not too badly. Should come up ok with a bit of work. Will take a pic once I'm happy and if the weather holds!

So where do the guns go??? You could of course paint it as a military rig.

After another nice day I got the chassis painted :) Quite pleased with the way it's turned out. Believe it or not it's been sprayed Humbrol Gull Grey. Also I've been working on the cab and sleeper pod so I should have pics of those soon :)

I'm spitting tacks this morning. The Gull Grey I used for the chassis is a little too light. No big problem to fix just bloody annoying.

Don't respray it just paint a black wash on it, that will darken it and will also settle in the corners to give you some shading in the low reliefs. Mix up some black enamel with white spirit (white spirit is less aggressive than thinners) at a ration of 10 or 15 to 1 and paint it on don't pull the brush around too much incase it lifts the paint underneath.

Here is the assembled cab and sleeper pod.

Hopefully by the time they're painted they should look something like this.

That's the plan anyway :)

Nice, might be tricky to pull off the curved yellow line though, but we got faith in you :)

You could get some 3mm tape (a guy on TM sells it) and run that where you want the yellow line to be then run the bigger tape up to the edges, that way you'll get an even line all the way through. Alternatively reverse paint/mask so that you spray the yellow first, then mask with 3mm tape and the spray the white, sorry just thinking out loud, ignore me you've got it all covered

Looks impressive but I bet it's a bugger to get round corners!

Here's a pic of the tractor unit chassis and the tank trailer. I can tell you there isn't much room between the back of the sleeper pod and front of the tank!

Yep, they are not made for corners. Depots they use have special areas to accommodate them. But generally, where those big fellas run, which is in the open expanses of the inland, there is not a lot of corners. That's a fairly big road train, but they get bigger B)

Here's another pic. Some progress, not much but some. I've come to the conclusion that the sleeper pod will have to be left off as there far to little room between it and the trailer. It doesn't look right at all. You can see in the pic the rear mounts for the sleeper pod not a lot of room is there?

Yes I'm still alive (I think) :) Haven't really done much but I have totally re done the cab. I actually bought another kit and robed the cab out of that. It's getting there. As is usually the case with most kit build you learn things and know you should have built some parts differently and so on. I'll get there in the end :)

Will you be converting it to right hand drive?

I remember when I dabbled in 1/24 Trucks Auslowe made a good range of conversions and upgrades.

Just recently found them again

No it's still left hand drive. Might do a RHD conversation at a later time when I feel confident enough to do something like that.
