This is being built for the Manawatu Scale Model Clubs group build which started on the 1st of Feb and goes for 6 months. So with that time frame in mind I thought I really need to make a start.
Started off with a wash.

That is as far as it has got lol

Cheers

Neat kit Michael.
I used to make a lot of cars when younger, then switched to the armoured side.
I'll watch this one come together, it is one of my favorite WRC cars, little missiles on wheels they are.

I wonder if you can get decals for this to make Ken Block's Fiesta.... Now that would be cool.
Pity SWMBO's fiesta doesn't go as fast as these, at least it sorta looks similar....

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

Yes you can get some Ken Block decals but most end up covering 99% of the car, which I am pick would not be much fun to fit.

I have got some after market decals for it that only cover about 50%.

The detail is awesome but I have read that the fitment is not so good in a couple of areas.

Finally got back to build this baby.

This is how far the kit had got when it got put to the side back in June. As you can see the under tray, floor pan, dash, wheel arches and the 4 suspension arms had been primed.

The wheels come in 2 pieces. Once the inner wall of the tyre was glued in some filler was need to make it look more seam less. The molding line around the center on the tyre has also been removed.

A group of parts made it to the paint booth for some primer.
The grey part got sprayed with decanted Tamiya grey primer sprayed through the airbrush. First time trying this with primer and it work great and results look awesome. The wheels are going to be white so got primed with Tamiya white primer. This was done from the spray can and it did not turn out so nice. The tyre area got to wet when trying to get the primer into the detail of the wheel. Well clean them up and will try the white through the airbrush.
The dash had been primed but needed a small touch up

I am not a fan of the size of the sprue gates Airfix now use. The 3 parts on the left are the gear leaver unit and the item on the right is 70% of the hand brake. One of the splits in the gear leaver was already their when I got their but picking I did the other. As for the hand brake I am not sure, I didn't see the split before I started to cut but don't feel I did that one. I had cleaned up the other 30% of the hand brake to re-attach but the carpet monster ate it.

The pedal box is not that flash and I find it funny that once turned up the right way the accelerator will be on the left... that's odd.

Nice to see some progress here.
Could not agree more with the comments on the pedal orientation and gate size.

Trying to make repairs to the broken parts and find the small (0.7mm) bit very brittle.

Good to know. By mostly intact does that mean it's already have some parts robbed from it?
