Not to try and derail this awesome thread, but in my honest opinion, after using both for a long while now im not certain they are the same thing.
They seem to spray slightly differently and dry differently in my experience.
I know everyone says they are the same, but i have yet to see a proper side by side comparison and think the fact UMP primer is literally just a different label has led people to believe one shot is just in a different, and honestly, awful bottle (well the cap is anyway)
I would not be surprised if they cam out of the same factory, but i feel the One Shot is just a little bit different, maybe its a little more thinner or something as it does seem to mix quicker in the bottle, or different batches but there is a slight difference in my experience.

Either way its a pity they don't do it in 4 litre tins for subjects like this :-)

Google has many references to Ammo One Shot being re branded Stynylrez. - and also UMP I guess many are blindly quoting other references to this but interestingly no one anywhere appears to be disputing it. Mig Ammo have re branded other items, Model Scene leaves for example. Unlike you, I have not used both so can not compare the two. What I can say is I really like the Ammo One Shot Primer, except for the cap as you say. Mighty Ape appears to be the only Stynylrez supplier in NZ. At the time I wanted it they did not have it in stock in colours I wanted so I got the Ammo One Shot going off information that it was the same product. Next time I need some I will see if Mighty Ape has stock.

I use both and Oneshot is thinner than Stylenrez both great products but I find the Mig product works better out the bottle.

Lucky the primer work is complete, we can now move on to discussing the merits of self leveling thinner lol. ;)

Speaking of which......

I have started on the underside using Tamiya XF-80. I didn't really have a plan, I just started spraying and kind of let the model guide me.

While it's slow work, I really enjoy it and it helps to have a good audio book on.

I'm not too sure about the effect, It's kinda post-shading in reverse, but I don't know if it works on a subject this large. I definitely think it needs to be muted somewhat, but will have to have a look when it dries. I'm open to suggestions or ideas.

Looks good. It’s a funny thing to work out, the shading on something this large in real life. It should reveal more and more detail the closer you get. I just how you do that I’m not sure.

Maybe being that large will work in your favour..Bold effects will probably be ok? Dunno...If you do lots of smaller scale or muted effects they might get lost in the sheer scale..Or a combo of both? Helpful huh! It still a massive star destroyer! So it is gonna look awesome!

Heading off to work this morning, I had a good look and i like it. I thinnk it will work, and as for the finer detail bishop, I think playing with pin washes will help add that detail up closer.

Cheers webby, good idea.
Got a little more painting done. The underside panels are complete and were also muted a but more. I will see when properly dry what to do next.

I also got to do the engine area. The detail really breaks up the single colour and by being a little bit rougher with the painting, there are natural darker areas left.

The hangar bays have been left in primer for now, but I'll be painting them pure white to simulate the flood of light from them

I haven't had a lot of time to continue with this, and the time I have had has been spent trying to sort out a spitting airbrush.
But I decided to try the airbrush to see if I had fixed it by painting the hangar bays in Gloss White. And no, I didn't fix the spitting. :( Grrrrr

Cheers Maarten and Bish. Yeah, I thought that it might be that or the nozzle damaged. I sanded the needle with a polishing stick and look at it and the nozzle with an optivisor but couldn't see anything really wrong with either, but I'll get a replacement set and see if that helps.

Surprised today was cooler than expected and with a long weekend, I decided to skip going for a walk with the wife and do some painting instead.
I removed the masking around the hangar bays. Looked mostly OK, but the front hangar was a mess. There were also paint spit marks over the place

This was the result of a dodgy airbrush and an impatient modeller. Mostly the 2nd one ;)

So I cut a bit of foam to fit tha bay and started fixing the errors.

It was warm enough that I didnt have to wait long to start on the top side. I had sprayed the vertical surfaces earlier.

I started with the exact same technique as I have been using, finding panels and filling them in.

I also started on the bridge. This is where I had to stop and remember to do the dad thing and entertain the girl.

Actually, it's not too bad Nos. If anything it's getting me hungry to dive into something else after this, but the heat ain't helping. :S

Yesterday I had another quick painting session, and things went a bit wrong... :(

I thought I was adding some Leveling thinner to my paint mix, but I put in airbrush cleaner instead. Lucky it was the Vallejo type so pretty close to a paint thinner, but the paint started spraying funny and I ended up with a big area that was flooded. My fault, I should have stopped when I saw there was a problem. I'm not sure how I will tackle this. Maybe take it back to plastic just around this area with ISO.

The good news is that most of the painting is done. I got to fade back a lot of the shaded areas, but there are still some small parts to do. I think one more painting session and I will be ready to weather.

There will be some headed towards Plamo.NZ later in the year, at least of the standard edition and if there is enough interest the deluxe version.

Finally got to have a look at the star destroyer and the area I had trouble with isn't as bad as I thought, and just needs a bit of a sand.

What has happened though is all the panel line have been filled in.

I started re-scribing the panel lines, but because I'm at a standing bench, I can't do it for long, so this might be a case of bringing it upstairs and doing a little bit each night.
