Scratch-building a sci-fi model has always been on my list of things to do someday. It will be interesting to see how you tackle this.

Scratch building like this really took off the the Gerry Anderson shows, Derek Meddings et al really raising the bar that lead to the amazing scifi models in the films and shows that followed. Watching what you come up with.

Thank you @Grant, @Bishop, @dcrfan, and @Gary for visiting my build.

You guys sure stacked me up against a giant (Derek Meddings). Forget it. You will be disappointed.

However, as a kid, I did like watching the Thunderbirds. Recently saw a few DVDs, in our library, on The Bishop in The Secret Service (loved it).

Anyway, the overall display plan will be something like this (I think):

A way cool idea as long as people don't have a fit looking at it. Love it so far.

Yes, I agree with you. Have already ordered momentary pushbuttons (pb) for the console. Each compartment has its own pb. These will enable whatever electronics is attached to that compartment. As soon as they take their finger off the pb, it turns off.

Thanks for complement.

It's never too late.

Since starting modelling (last year), I had to relearn what I knew 40 years ago, and learning new stuff too. Having the desire, and the time to do so, is the only barrier. I don't want to learn everything for I will end up swapping model making for electronics making (which I don't want to do).
Being a geek is full-time keeping updated - no time to make anything.

Fashioning a way to solder the LEDs with a retro space-age look.

The four LEDS into left side end contains a Red, Green, Blue, and a White LED. Their control panel rotary switch is labelled 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% respectively.
The four LEDS at right hand side contains four LEDs, two Orange, and two Yellow. Their control panel switch is labelled "LOW" and "HIGH" respectively.
What that all means is up to you.

I like how the light penetrates through the bulkhead. It looks warm and very energetic. But I still may have to dim it further.
Bottom photo shows how bright it is without the resistor.
