I grabbed this on a whim from Fishpond, being only $20 landed. Being a 1:12300 kit, it's pretty small

But i didn't realise how small until I took it out of the box. God knows why this is a level 3 kit.

There are details but at this scale those details are way overdone so I have started taking a snader to them to bring them down some

I needed some weight in the back, just behind the mounting slot for the stand, but had a small glue accident. Lucky it was only PVA.

This should be a fun little build.

It's weird how Fishpond do their pricing. Occasionally they have some bargains but it's just as likely that today the same kit would be over $100 :)

1/12300 is an interesting scale. Reminds me of the early days of modelling when kits were sometimes refered to as 'box-scale' ie just scaled to fit into a standard cardboard box.

Yeah Fishpond are very weird like that. I dont really buy from them, but a $20 kit was worth a look

Did a little more this avo. Found the single decal lol

I'll use a metallic paint on the engines so they got separated

And I put the body together. There are some fit issues. I dont know if I'll bother addressing these

And I primed everything in black. Hoping to create some shadows when I put the light grey on.

A single decal and Revell still put number 1 next to it on the sheet - it's not likely to get confused with another decal.
If I was laying out the sheet I'd call it number 3 just to mess with everyone's heads. :)

Looks like good progress. Lots of detail there for the black paint to hide in so should come out good.

It's a shame Revell didn't do the stand in clear plastic - I guess it would have doubled the price and bumped it up to 'Level 4'. :)

I know right. And it goes on the back of the stand??

Nos, I will probably get the same one on Monday. Its what I really wanted but this is a cool little something to put on my work desk

Very small, but you'll bring it to life very nicely. The black base coat is definitely the way to go.

Cheers Bishop

A little more done. I used a Dark iron Mr Metal for the engine cans

Some of the joins weren't great so I had to reglue them and clamp them down

Still not happy but it's just a quick build

And a spray of light gull grey. Leaving it overnight and will look at what wash I want to use tomorrow. Maybe a naval grey or Flory grime wash?

Neat, Kane.

If I was laying out the sheet I'd call it number 3 just to mess with everyone's heads.

Hee hee! Is it even worth supplying the decal? They could have added this...

That's neat, should look good with a wash and maybe even a drybrush to sharpen the edges?

This he's alright, see his pics pop on FB at times with his lovely new daughter. So I think he's busy being a dad to a new born :)

Saw him comment on a post or two about a week or so ago, and that was about it on here. He's still lurking around I think

Yup still lurking and reading what I can. No bench time and between new job and kid, the only other thing I have time for at the moment is sleep. ;)
Been itching to get some bench time too, so hopefully with winter settling in I can take 30 minutes here and there

I feel somewhat guilty for not replying to peoples threads, but I barely get time to scroll through looking at the images and live vicariously through your posts
