So far I've got the basics built on the first Valkyrie (the walking plane in the photos) and finally sourced a decent apartment block to use as the building - thanks to the guys/girls at Bay Hobby Supplies.
Modified the VF-1 slightly in that its fired off a missile in the opening moments of the contact in response to stepping out into the street and having its booster pack shot off! Nothing drives soldiers more insane that movies and models showing things with full ammo loads in contact with the enemy. On contact - ie coming under EFFECTIVE fire, fire that has a good chance of hitting you if it hasnt already, we let rip with the first mag on auto and seek cover.
I've also blown off a chunk of the head mounted laser and will be tearing up the shoulder mounted light and the Booster that was dumped in the street with damage from the shot. I'll model some mangled internals and hide an LED Neopixel inside to flicker and simulate wires sparking and shorting out.
When I find them, a crowd of screaming civvies will be pouring out of the lobby between the Valks legs and running off down the street. A second Valk will be kneeling in the aim across the street with its knee crushing a delivery truck or car and one hand shielding a dog.
On the Roof of the building will be a spotlit billboard with a Tui ad saying either " Just another quiet day in paradise... yeah right" or "Another quiet night on the town... yeah right"
The building will have some damage, blown out window or 2 and some Neopixel lighting in the rooms, some on, some dark, some near the damage flickering.
Was thinking of doing some discarded 55mm cartridge cases on the street too but I would need 0.75mm tube to do it... we shall see.
Stand aside caffine, this is a job for alcohol.

Having to alter the layout. Getting the second valk to kneel convincingly in the aim is proving virtually impossible. The mechanics of it just dont work with a short upper leg, long lower leg and intakes that foul the folded wings. Besides that the hand wont reach the ground in its current attempt to kneel so I cant get it to cover a dog or anything else. It also clutters up the scene and is too much.
New plan is to have a few stories playing out in the windows of the building instead... this should be fun!
As for the Sqn CAGs Valk... thanks to the wifes left field idea I'm doing another street scene... little old lady in a mobility scooter crossing the street... and the Valk caught mid swing about to kick her into touch "DOWN TOWN"
Messed with the pose and hands and it actually looks really convincing and dynamic!
Making the item to be kicked into next year changeable as some - especially those Americans over there - may not get kiwi humour and may take offense at an oldie on a scooter getting the boot, so as a backup I have a 1/72 scale Ice Cream truck in the works.
