Cheers guys. More work over the weekend. I did some more sanding and filling, and just respraying didn't look right so I re-primed the parts I had touched up.
File Attachment:

Unfortunately, i dripped some of the plastic/glue filler I was using and the clean up required more fixing. I wasn't sure how the over spray from the primer would look to so I was prepared to re-prime the whole thing.
File Attachment:

Fortunately she has come back looking nice, and while the parts I have been working on filling aren't perfect, they are a hell of a lot better and some parts no one will notice I did anything which i guess is what i was after.
File Attachment:

Tonight I repaint the topside and I also need to respray the gun turrets as I used Ammo paint on them and Mr Color on the body, and while they are supposed to be the same, they are very much different shades. If that goes well, it will be on to a clear coat and decals.

Mate that is looking really really good. Nice fix up with the spill as well, can't even see it in the bottom picture there. The shading looks great.

Top stuff Kane. Im really liking th variation of tone. It would look awesome with a space sky backdrop for some photos when complete - but have to be a pretty big backdrop eh!

Cheers all. No pictures, but I put a coat of clear on the topside last night. I don't have a bin big enough to put over the top of it so its picking up a little bit of dust, so not a perfect finish. Some more clear and hopefully will start decals and then weathering over the weekend

So after a couple of clear coats on the top side, I decided to start decals. The plan is to decal the top and clear it again, then clear and decal the underside. I pinned the huge reference card up above the desk
File Attachment:

I actually started on the gun turrets before moving to the main body
File Attachment:

I stopped the decals after a while as I hate decals and I dont know how other get it to happen, but I can never get mine to soften up and really seat nicely. I tried Micro Sol, Mr Mark Softener and also some X20A. They shrink down a little but still sit fairly flat on the model. The other thing I found was they didnt quite fit with carrier film so continuing on Im going to have to cut that off.
File Attachment:

I'll have a look in the morning and maybe apply some more softener

Finally I put the discs for the engine exhausts. I tried to dry brush them holding them in my hand, just to add some depth but it wasnt working so I've glued them in and will dry brush them in place. Hopefully I'll get some more done tomorrow.

That does look bloody awesome mate.

Re the decals... my method is to have a shallow bowl of warm water close to hand and dunk them upside down for approx. 20 secs and then set aside on a paper towel until they loosen up from the backing paper. This helps prevent them from curling up too much... especially if they are quite large.

Just prior to slipping them into position I brush on a liberal amount of Micro Set then apply the decal. A wet surface aids in final positioning.
Then, using a combination of cotton buds and paper towel, I roll out any wrinkles and air bubbles etc.

Lastly, I brush on the Micro Sol and let it work it's magic. Resist any urge to touch it for approx. 20 mins or so.
If it still hasn't conformed properly to the surface, brush on another coat of Micro Sol and keep repeating until done.

What he said :-)
except, i tend to just use water on the decal and kit till the decal is in place (i find it gives me more time to get it set just right before the decal decal breaks up), then ill get rid of excess water and in with the micro set (blue)
If it has still not conformed than on goes either Micro sol (red) or the mr mark softner (green and yellow label)
Mr mark seems to actually make the decal very fragile till it sucks itself down to the kit, so in both cases dont touch the decals (not even dabbing) while either solution is still wet on them.

Stand aside caffine, this is a job for alcohol.

thanks all. Yeah I'm pretty much doing what you said James, except I added some Microset in with the water. I'll try just with the water Mark before coming in with the Sol.
