Had some time to work on the S-38.
Build all the mines and sprayed them black and panzer grey.

Did all the rivets and sealed them with a layer of light grey primer.

Loving it Martaan. I especially like the wooden plank work under the gun.
From a complete rookie, what is the difference between one of these “schnell-boot” and an “E-boat” or are they interchangeable terms? (Rushing off now to Mr Google)
Looking forward to more.
Cheers
Tania

Is not the first the German title, the second the British term for them, 'E' = enemy

Lovely detail. I assume there was no way of recovering the "holders". Lots of concrete heading to the bottom.

Made a UMA mine...... i went for the simple trolley version, the mine it self is from AFV and the lower part is scratch built and from that one i made resin copies.
(Not sure i will use them. but you never can have enough mines)

Love the extra attention to mine laying detail here Martin. Brings the subject to life. There were several types of conical anti-sweep mines; explosive types and a mechanical version (as per your diagram and what you've modelled), and they were indistinguishable from each other when found afloat. What is incredible is even today German mines are still being recovered. A Royal Navy bomb disposal team recently removed a 6ft long 1000kg WW2 air dropped mine from Elmer Sands Beach, detonating it off shore with quite a BANG!

Did some work on the bridge,

Shame these 38b's didn't come with a camouflage pattern,Plenty of unarmoured bridge versions with camo up north in scandinavia and in the baltic
Schnellboot White was the perfect color for night operations in the channel and North sea.

Trying out what material to use for the canvas dodgers........this is my first attempt ''0.25mm evergreen ''
next will be heavy brown packing paper.

The evergreen looks very good shape wise. Would you texture it with surfacer or let the paint do the work, hand brushing etc?

Not much canvas texture in1/35 scale to be seen, think nice cote of semi gloss will do the trick.
