Thought I would try my hand at something a little different...

Undecided as to how I will display it as yet...may have a crack at doing a "seascape".... Trying to get a start this afternoon...kit looks good...lots of very fiddly looking P.E in there!
I will get pics up where possible..

And we're off.... I always like the look of these Littoral patrol ships, pity the US Navy have almost decided not to bother since they are so far over budget and behind schedule.... Still, very futuristic looking...

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

Following. B) When I get a bit more experience, and space, and money, I would love to do some 1/350 Modern navy ships.

Ok...so I have made a start . . I have to say the kit itself is great! Very little clean up and fit seems really good.Lots of very small parts! Very nice colour callout sheet

here is some of the photo etch..comes very well packaged and has a plastic protector on each side..

I have fitted the bulbous bow as I am playing with the idea of doing "at sea"

Lower Hull

Experimental seascape..

I have started on the upper hull with some internal fittings like the Rhib Stowage

Upper Hull

And super structure

Hopefully it look somewhat like this in the end

That's gonna be a good painting challenge. I can see a lot of post-shading opportunities

Yup..going to try a combo of pre and post shading (cover my bases!) ..there seems to be several different colour schemes as far as deck markings etc..even on the one vessel.. at least from the photos I've seen..

Looks like a nice little boat
Your base will look good painted and some Mod podge added to the surface, works great as water effect and is easy to find and also cheap, sing out if you want any help with the base :)

How'd you get the undulations in the polystyrene Corran? It looks really cool already

It was a method I saw on a ship building forum I found when I was doing a bit of research... Its just normal polystyrene packing.. I held it up above my head and with a mini gas torch held about 20 cm away formed the waves...first time I have tried this and it was really easy!! You actually have more control than I thought.... Took all of about five minutes!! Hopefully I can get it too look allright in the end..but being such a quick process I can always make another...

Quick update as I am away all weekend..Got the hanger doors in and built the stern section..started on the seahawk and the drone...actually procrastinating...got to do the 147 deck tie downs next!! The kit itself just about falls together! A real pleasure so far!

The products that I intend to use for sea arrive today also

That's it for now! Cant wait to get back to it on Sunday!

Quick update...small parts assy ....20 individual hanger lights..

Rhib,Anchor and SeaRam..

Seahawk

Mast assy going together..not super happy..part moved while drying..but we will see how it goes..probably the hardest part so far.

Hulls are together....very minimal filler required..

need to come up with a painting plan.... going to paint and mask as much as I can instead of decals..ie flight deck markings etc

Next up all the hull P.E.......
