As mentioned in my other build, I won't be able to have my maiden voyage this year.
To fill in the time until then, I have started on the Revel Gato to convert to R/C.
Hopefully this won't be as long a build as the last one!
I have made a start on the necessary mods for the propulsion ie: shafts and rudder area using my trusty Blu-Tac!
Nearly melted one of the tunnels with too high a drill speed!

Making a start on the deck gratings.
Originally I was going to drill out all the grating holes, then I saw sense after finding I couldn't drill them uniformly.
To support the Eduard PE decking it is necessary to put many ribs in place as the kit decking has to be removed.

As I want the main deck areas to be removable, I have modified the kit side plates using the pins on the hull as retainers.
I opened up the side plate cups so that they would be a sliding fit, this meant the side plates would need to be strengthened if they were to withstand constant use.

Made a start on the rear deck grating area removal, think I may have to get shares in Evergreen Plastics.
Been back to the modelshop twice as run out of 2mm square section.

Carrying on with the beneath deck ribbing, and temporary fit of the PE decking.
It is necessary to cut the hatches etc., from the kit decking, and refit them in/on the PE decking.
First hatch cut from kit decking, prior to cleaning up!

I have now opened up the main hull, being careful to retain the hull joints.
Hopefully I can now work out where all the individual R/C items can be placed.

Just playing around with some of the internals to see what I can fit into the WTC, and how much room I need.

Weather was nice outside so set up in the garden to do a little spaying. (rattle can)
Little bit of work on the PE decking, all attached to the ribs, and primered up to see where any fettling heeds doing.

Have decided to make it a dynamic diver as not much extra work from building a surface runner.
I have enlarged the diving planes about 30% from advice by others who have more experience with converting to dynamic diver.
This done using plasticard and green stuff.

Many thanks for the kind comments that have been posted, I'm really enjoying this build.
Just started one of the jobs I have been putting off for quite a while, the very long PE side hinge plates.
I have folded them, and temporarily held them in place with masking tape, until I have worked out the areas that need trimming around obstructions.

You've just reminded me that my green Squadron putty is running out. Nice PE bender as well. This is a big boat isn't it.

Now thats a large dose of PE brass.
Having messed about with RC boats for sometime now, I can fully appreciate the 'problems' associated with static to RC conversions.
Hope the build continues as planned and look forward to photos of it's maiden.

WTC and assorted parts arrived.
Props, gaiters, couplings from S.H.G.
WTC, shafts, and pushrod seals from MMB (Marks Model Bits)
Now need to work out how to make it all come together.

Struggling with only one useable arm at the moment so not a lot to post.
A few bits and pieces done moving forward slowly!
'A' frames secured, prop shaft internal supports fitted, stern planes being modified.

Positioning the gearbox and secondary drive shafts.
Lots of fun (not) lining everything up without any binding.
