Thanks to Member Stinker, I’ve finally managed to score DML’s old E100 with Maus turret. This will go nicely with the Trumpeter E100 Crocodile sitting on the shelf waiting for more painting. These are huge vehicles which is why I love them. Beyond silly for a nation about to lose a war, but awesome nonetheless. The shots of the incomplete prototype show just how far the E series had moved. Interesting that they would try building the largest first. I guess the E55 and E75 kind of existed with the Panther and Tiger ii so this really was the one the needed to build from scratch.
The box, with Hitler’s face blanked out on all but the instructions
The guns with seams to sort and a muzzle to make
The enormous hull and suspension
I have left the fenders off the Croc. I really like the look. I’m undecided about this one as they would help balance out the huge turret. I actually think there were issues with turret size wise, but this is not my concern here.
Some progress. The wheels are done and the gun attached to the turret. I can now attach the tracks, drying at present, and finish adding parts everywhere. The exhausts are from the now defunct Tamiya Tiger ii as the kit ones were too much hard work to be bothered with. This thing was so huge the JagdTiger happily parks on it with room to spare. What were they thinking?
Horrid tracks done. Nothing magic about these baskets. Grrrrrrr. Anyway, they do look rather smashing in their massive glory. Now on with the other bits and then the complete red oxide experience. I’m so tempted to do a chalk markings rushed into Berlin battle fantasy piece.
