It's been a long time since I cut some sprue...

This will be out of the box in the kit scheme of the classic three tone Flanker camo. I do have some Ukrainain splinter decals left over, but I want to freehand this camo. B)

Nice Kite Grant.
I'll have to pop in and have a look and check progress, if it's anything like the last one :woohoo:

Small progress. I think the kit looks to be an improvement from the Flanker B. Still needs so remedial work to fix the mold marks and soft detail though.

Two or three months if the mojo is there. This hasn't got any aftermarket in it so it should be reasonably quick. (Actually this build is mostly just to restore the balance in the force after I screwed up the Ukrainain Flanker B I was 90% finished.)

I somehow missed reading your post regarding the paint drama on your previous Flanker. Sorry to hear it went all so horribly wrong so late in the piece. I'm curious as to whether you used a clear coat (and if you did what brand?) over the Mig paint prior to the sludge wash or just applied it directly to the Mig paint?

Watching with interest.

Two clear coats, one for the decals and then one sealing those. Still find it fairly odd.

Not meaning to bug you Grant. What brand of clear was it? Mig? (I want to know to avoid the stuff myself!)

Tamiya acrylic.

We spent Christmas away but got back a few days ago so I'm now back into this. Almost finished construction. A little more filing to go before painting. Not too much filling if you take your time with assembly.

Looking great. As much as I like the single seat Flankers, I always found the twin seater ones much more aesthetically pleasing and menacing looking.

Coming along nicely. You're right about seams and taking your time, but sadly it doesn't always work out. This is though.

I can't really deiced which one I like the looks of the most. The c looks like it has a swollen head from some angles.

Moving on quickly with putting this together. I just shot an undercoat on the model which I'll let dry and do the final prep before painting the cockpit and putting the canopy on. Also, I found the bird I'm going to represent. The kit has generic lettering in the decals so I have all I need. :)

Working on the cockpit now. I tried to use the decals, but they looked a bit naff so back to my usual method. There is still a bit of detail to go into this. Also, I think I will get an eye test this week. :pinch:

Started the paint job by roughly blocking in the camo. Colours will be rather more faded on the final model.
