Stalled on the Panzers as everything has taken years. So just needed a speed makeover to clear the head.

The base is Heng Long’s 1:16 M4A3 105mm. The basic shape is fine to start with, but the rest is basic too. The list of scratched and adjusted parts is long, but it was fun getting everything together in a matter of two weeks. I’ve even tried to paint the figure. Hopeless at figures, but found this fun. On with some engine bays now.

Spring 45 ETO.

Some of the scratch building

Extra turret armour added to the casting rather than externally

New ammo tray, fixtures and chains for the M2 with a new mounting post.

New air direction grill for the exhausts and all the extra detail that fills what was an enormous hole under the rear of the tank. Also the exhaust for the 45 turret motor

And

There are welds and chains everywhere

The fenders were removed and new ones made

The spare tracks were scratched to match the replacement metal ones. The HL ones are just hopelessly wrong. The new metal ones are usually found on Commonwealth supplied Shermans, but it wasn’t impossible to see them on US ones too. These come with great duck bills. Beautiful tracks. The drive cogs were widened to fit them and the rear rollers were widened and the rubber tyre mouldings on them filled in.

Repeat shot with the tracks in all their muddy metal glory

This shot also shows the new scratched rear fold down stowage shelf. The HL one was thicker than Tiger armour.

Finally the guy. Grubby and still in winter get up on a chilly spring morn ( or something like that).

Lots of fun

Thank you both. I really enjoyed this as something different. I could actually do plenty more on it, but wanted to call it done so I could at least feel like I’d finished something.
