My first build of the year and I'm calling it about done, this is the Dragon PzKpfw. III Ausf. G 'Afrika Korps' 1/35 Imperial Series. I believe it's one of their older offerings (it certainly felt older than their usual high quality stuff).
I just wanted something quick and dirty to get my mojo back on track for 2017, it's totally out of the box, there's a number of Jerry cans I might add and some spare track and wheels etc. I thought about adding chains to the section at the back, I'm not sure what they were for but I know on previous builds they've had them. I think it needs some dust on the damaged rubber wheels as well.
I can't remember what makes the camera only focus on certain parts, I'll have to go back through the settings and work it out.
Anyway, thanks for looking, comments and suggestions welcome (unless it means I have to rebuild, repaint or generally trash something ;) ).

Yep, that's all I'd do to it. I really like the look of this one Gary. Great work on an old kit.

I'd say the mojo is in good form there Gaz. Nice work indeed. And Yes, dust up the road wheels and perhaps even the return rollers to a lesser degree.

Probably about 10 hours tops, of actual work, paint drying etc isn't included but as I use my dehumidifier as a mini oven I only have to wait 30 mins tops between coats/colours.

.... like a Benny Hill skit right?

Nice job on the PzIII Gary. If it's possible to have a favorite panzer, this would be mine.

Yeah I've got another one to build yet, I like them as they are quick and dirty to build with little fiddle farting around.
I'm getting in to my DAK stuff after recently buying the AK DAK book and the DAK armour and uniform paint sets. I wasn't impressed with the base colour it was in my opinion way too light and I had to add a couple of layers of brown to filter the effect back to something darker.

I don't do anything special with my builds.
Build kit - couple of hours
Spray basecoat, chuck in oven for 30 mins, spray on shadows, highlights then chuck back in oven.
Apply gloss coat - Oven
Apply filters - Oven
Apply washes - Oven
Paint lighten base coat on to areas with sponge for 1st part of chipping
Paint dark brown or dark grey in to the dots created by sponge effect using fine brush.
Use graphite pencil to give a metallic shine to certain parts
Spray matt clear coat - Oven
Add some pigments here and there to break up colours and add weathering.
Take photos.

I really like this mate, and it's awesome you were able to build it so quickly. Showing your skill with these if you're able to bang out a great little model in such a short amount of time. I really like the tracks as well! Are they standard Dragon ones are they? The look like links?

Hey Gary, you better clarify the oven parts. Somebody might take that literally

It is an oven, I set it to 60'c for 30 minutes and close the door, I used to use my combination microwave/oven that I have in the dungeon but now I just use the dehumidifier which is basically an oven because it comes up to temperature quickly and doesn't use as much electricity.

Tiger the Spammeister is back :)
Welcome back mate and thanks for the kind words.
It's not that I lost my mojo as such, just the interest/drive to make stuff, I think this was partly due to losing my dog who would often come and sit with me when I modelled (that and Christmas).

Very nice. Really like how the numbers have conformed to all the odd shapes.

How did you damage the rubber? it looks realistic.

Thanks.
The wheels were carved up with a motor tool.
I wasn't that impressed with the numbers, I don't like the way they wrap round the doors but they are about as good as I can get them, they were heading South at one point but I managed to recover them. :D

Nice finish there G1!

I have a few of the older release DML kits in the stash. A lot of them were made from the old Gunze moulds

Yeah this one was from the Imperial range, not sure what that means lol
I've got another one from the same range to do, I think the other one is an Ausf E, also a DAK one but I'll do it as Yellow/brown over grey using the washable Desert Yellow from Mig. I want to give it a go, I've just used washable sand on the wheels and the Jerry cans and it's looking really good so far. I just have the tie down ropes and a few bits to do on this and then I'm calling it done and I can continue with one of my other in process builds.

Calling it about done I think, unless anyone spots anything I've missed. Photos taken with my phone which actually look better than my very expensive camera lol
Drilled holes in to the hook plates, added the Jerry cans and used yellow cotton stained with thinned enamel paints to tone it down to something resembling rope.

The red markings on the side... are they masked, or decals?
