USMC M1A1 finsihed was created by Queeg
I've been working on converting the 1/48th Gasoline M1A2 resin kit into a USMC M1A1HC and finally think it's finished. Ok, so there are things I'd like to improve and adjust (aren't there always?) but for now I'm calling it done. It's a gaming model and hopefully it'll get a run out on the table next weekend at Wellingtons Call to Arms convention.

It's brush finished with Humbrol enamels and GW acrylics and I used oils for the lining and weathering. Pigments are MIG and homemade and everything's sealed with Testors Dullcoat. Markings are hand painted and from the spares box and yeah I know one of the Chevrons is back to front, that's what happens when you're trying to finish it at 11.30pm ..... it's a bit tricky to fix but I might attack it at a later stage as I have a couple more to build also.

cnc welcome .........

cheers
Brent

Turret details .....

And here's the tank that inspired the finish with a side shot of mine, not quite the same but pretty close I think .......

What I started with and some mods later......

Very very nice!
I'm toying with the idea of doing my cheapy trumpeter 1/35 m1a1/2 as a marines one, similar to yours (after watching them on Battlefield Brothers on Nat Geo a while back). I'll save a proper m1a2 for when I get round to getting the tamiya m1a2 tusk.

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

I'd be interested in seeing the Trumpy one built. While I was trolling the 1/35th builds looking for ref pics most people went straight for the better Dragon kits or Tamiya ones .....

Only reason I got it was because I was doing an order from Hobby Easy and they had it for $10 so I thought why not? For $10 it doesn't matter how rubbish it is, but from what I've read online and seen built up, it looks like an ok kit.

I really like this.

I know next to nothing about the M1 series, in truth (and purely on a visual level), I find them very bland, like the Le Clerc and the Ariete. However this M1 with the antenna farm, roof armour and the 'dunny' on the back-end just lift the whole thing and make it much more exciting to look at.

Well modelled, sir !!

I'm the same Ian, I just love the busy look of the late version, the extended bustle rack makes the turret look much more "in size" with the rear profile. I think we're getting a 1/48th Le Clerc - the AZUR Nexter version, so it has added armour and we'll see what that looks like in comparison ....

That's a killer paint job, you've matched the example really nicely. It looks like it's been out there in the desert, and though there's plenty of stowage it's very well laid out. I'm glad you included the "mods" shot to show the nice scratch work.
