Wolfpack 1/48 Su-27B was created by Nosferatu
So...Went back into my room today for the first time since completing the tie Fighter. The intention was to crack on and finish the Apache and Toyota Technical and get them closer to finishing. Well..The Apache is now on the shelf..I had two options..Shelf or bin..Shelf won for now..I just cant deal with it ..I remembered that this is a hobby and supposed to be fun and every time I looked at that Apache it just annoys the shit outta me.Still may end up in the bin. Toyota will get done. Anyway.. Next project.. And I may regret this...But.. Wolfpack 1/48 Su-27B.. Its a rebox of the Academy kit with Wolfpack added resin upgrades. I have also added Airies nozzles. Scheme is undecided at this stage but I have a multitude of options with Bergemont Mask and Decal set. I have a set of Akan paints for Blue scheme somewhere so I will probably lean that way. This will a good exercise it Surgery and using resin. Wish me Luck!

So i have made a start on this. First and a little scary is to remove the kit landing gear bays and rear cockpit area, I havnt done this sort of surgery on a kit before! Mistakes were made but on the whole pretty happy.
Before

After

I have also built up the intakes which arent the easiest but with a bit of thought went together ok. Vert & Horiz Stabs and Flaps,Leading edge slats all built also. Going together pretty easy with minimal clean up..Impressed considering its an Academy rebox!

I have also taken the blocks off the resin parts and primed them ready for paint..will get pics of them when I get home.

Looking good. Only way is to jump on and cut. It will all glue and bog up eventually.

After debating the nose issues I've read about this kit I have ordered an aftermarket nose cone.I have been looking at a lot of pictures of various aircraft trying to sort out colours for landing gear bays and intakes. While I don't mind inaccuracies I like to get a close approximation. I have come to the conclusion that any colour goes! Just about every aircraft I've seen have different colours! Cool! Makes my job easier! There are a few constants.. The wheel hubs are green and MOST of the cockpits are a pale blue colour. I have MRP appropriate colours for those. The exterior will be from an AKAN Russian set for the Blue scheme. I have painted the landing gear bays a darkish grey and the intakes a lightish blue/grey.Trying the get them painted up because they need to be fitted before the intakes.

I have been working on the intakes and fitted the P.E mesh screens and painted the exposed weathered aluminium around where the landing gear struts will be. I added some riveting (another first for me!) and drilled a couple of holes for some added pipework I saw on reference pics. The pics also show the metal as having a goldy sheen to it in varying shades so I have try to simulate that. Come up pretty good photos don't really do it justice.

Resin Cockpit primed and base coated waiting for detail painting..Not sure how I am going to approach that..There are no decals for instrumentation.

Resin Cans primed and ready for paint.

Really enjoying doing some new stuff on this!

Got some paint down on the Su-27 yesterday! Yay! Akan paints seem pretty good..a lot of pigment but they thin really well and get good coverage...will see how the camo colours go when I get to them.

Because im a fickle bugger I decided that the Su-27 All blue camo is not for me! So ive gone with a blue/blue grey/grey green scheme. historically accurate? Dont think so! But I like it! Gloss next then onto the metal work..Dunno how that is gonna go!
