Every year, about ten days before Christmas I clear the bench and open a virgin kit - (last year it was two, a 'What If' Supra and a Miura) - this year something I have done before, but in 1:48..

This time, it'll be in 1:32.

Please stay tuned.

Nice choice mate, I dragged out two 1/48 FW190's yesterday but will have them done in a couple of days, might have to drag one of these out myself (or finish one of the one's I've started lol).
Will be watching this.

So new, it was still in its' transport box when I cracked it open yesterday !

First look is quite a shock. LOTS of etch included, plus full engine and wing guns with very odd transparent underwing access hatches ( :idonno ). Very nice looking cockpit straight from the box, but I'll still use the Eduard IP and some other bits. Really like the full radio rack for inside the fuselage with removable access hatch. Not sure how much will be visible but I'll build it up anyways.

Stay tuned.

Looks good. This lot was in Russia were they not? The E7 minus the spinner gun.

And another interested watcher tuning in for this build. I have not actually seen the 1-48 or 1-32 Trumpy kits in the flesh so this is a good opportunity. Nice choice Ian.

I'll break open and start my own traditional new kit on Boxing Day too. So many to choose from at present.

Sort of there matey. This was a sub-unit of the Bf-110 equipped SKG-210 / ZG1... a fast fighter-bomber group with squadrons in the middle-east aswell as all over the Eastern front as you say.

This is a late E, the dash 7 which was plumbed for both drop-tank and bomb carrying. (109E's never had centreline cannons BTW). There has been progress but because the little darlings are off school now and work is ramping-up, that progress is painfully s-l-o-w.

Excellent information. Matchbox did the 110 of this unit soooooo long ago now. Hadn’t realise this were plumbed for both theatres. Funny how they dropped the MG for the E7 and then brought it back. Watching watching...

Some self-explanatory progress pics for y'all:

Trumpeters etch is very thick, much more 'heavy duty' than Eduards, but I sort of like it. Still need to add the rudder pedals into the pit and the gunsight on to the IP, but otherwise the internals are done - not going to be doing any more than the absolute minimum to the engine, just enough to mount the prop & spinner.

More soon

Yup ..Looks great! The only thing I didn't like about the coloured etch for the Stuka was the IP..Just looked off to me.. so I didn't use it in the end.. In hindsight I could have tried repainting the surrounds but that was an after thought,.The Trumpeter etch looks a little better.

She's looking beaut!

Not a fan of the Eduard coloured etch either. Looks too much like it's been through a dot matrix printer to me. I'd love to try Yahu's pre-finished product. They're pretty well priced IMO.

A couple of half-hour sessions grabbed in-between, BBQ's and trips to the beach (and building my LEGO Hulkbuster ... Got the primer on and rubbed back to a glassy smooth finish. Also got the pre-shade done.

Don't touch that dial.

I started building models, then I was collecting more than I built. Now I'm more of an archivist.

RLM 74 / 75 / 76 & 04, all enamels:

None of the tones are 'official' manufacturers specs, just mixed my own using my preferred Mk.I eyeball method.

Next, Flory Wash.

Now available with [kit] decals

Next some dirtying-up on the undersides with oils followed by the exhaust plume and scorching around the guns.

Seems to be going well. Aiming to have it done just before our summer road-trip.
