HK Models, B-25 J Strafer was created by Gary
I finally made room on the bench and made a start on this lot. I'm notorious for starting things and not finishing them but I'll do my best on this one.
I bought this lot of a nice chap down in Wellington who had been sold it by some unscrupulous and shady character known to us all here :P
Anyway I've been slowly adding to this pile and even now I have a pair of HPH engines winging their way here from Eastern Europe. Its going to be very much a case of lets see works best as to whether I use stuff or not. I have 3 other B-25's so no worries about not using parts.

Here's all the bits that I've got so far

At the beginning of the week I made a start on the mid upper turret, it doesn't look much but it's pretty fiddly so far.
Here's it is awaiting paint.

I'll try to keep fairly regular updates as I go.

Will be watching this build for sure. I'd love to build the glass nose.

I've got two of each, if this goes well I'll do a glass nose next.

That's why i dont like these big kits.............. to much after parts needed to make it look better/correct ,but i do like it to see what you will do with it

So far it looks GREAT.

It's a fantastic kit straight out of the box, but WWII multi's is kind of my thing so I want to make it look as good as I can.

I don't know anything about the kit, but as an aircraft I love both the B-25 and B-26. Coincidentally I've recently been 'snapping' at Airfix over on Facebook for them still not releasing their 1:72 B-25C/D that they announced in 2016 !!

So much to look forward to in this build, matey.

That's a lot of after market to cram into one kit!... will there be anything g left of the original or will you be replacing everything....

A lot of it augments the existing stuff, some replaces. It looks to be about 50/50 at present.

Oh yeah! Watching.

Will build the same kit at some stage, but nowhere near the level of detail you're putting into your one.

Are you going to replace the hideous kit props?

I hadn't looked that far really, I saw there is a company out there that does them, I have replacement engines coming and the housing but not the props themselves. What is wrong with the kit ones then?

I do remember you started a Trumpeter 1/32 P-38 a while ago, and was keen to see what you could do with it (Same goes for this build btw) but I assume it yielded bench space to something else? Anyway there's always another day. I think the idea of cherry picking parts is a good idea. Aftermarket does not always lead to a better result, and being open to using it in a way that suits your build style or needs rather than use all of it because you paid for it makes better sense.

Yeah the P-38 is very much alive, I actually had to buy a profile tool that will allow me to make the internal ribbing in the engine nacelles. Once I've got the correct shape I'll 3D print the panel supports.
Having 2 of each means if I stuff something up I've got another shot at it lol
One of the Glass noses is 1/2 built but I stuffed up the paint work and got bad advice on how to remove paint.
The build log for the other one is here www.kiwimodeller.com/index.php/articles/...b-25j-from-hk-models as you'll be able to see I got quite a long way with it. Better luck this time I hope.

P-38 engine support ribs sounds promising. Will be even keener to see how that turns out.
Kinda sad you got so far into that other B-25 build only to suffer paint removal issues. Our hobby can occasionally be very cruel some days.

Update time, I've been plodding away this weekend building the gun nose section. Lots of PE well actually it's all PE and pretty fiddly.

Really interesting how you did that with the black panel lines applied first... I learn something new every time I watch these expert builds. I still use the pin brush technique but your way looks much neater and more effective.. I will try 1/32 one day..PE that you don't need a microscope and a pair of needles to handle

I've had to spend time on a commission I'm working on, so the B-25 has been sat on the side for the past week, but it does pay for the extras and my hobby in general ;)
Here's the latest additions to the build, a nice set of bronze landing legs from G-Factor, hopefully the engines should turn up some time this week as well.
